  1. I see the horse is still being beaten... If you can eat carbs responsibly and still lose, eat them. If you can't, don't. It's simple. It's YOUR body. You don't have to do or eat anything you don't want to. Do what works for you. Just make sure you get your protein. Case closed. ✌ Now, conventional wisdom says doing "what works for you" is probably how you ended up needing bariatric surgery, but I'll leave that alone.
  2. I wonder if I could be approved for a panniculectomy or brachioplasty at my current weight (or maybe a little less).  I can not take these flaps anymore!

I have no issues with rashes or anything. It's just heavy, annoying, and embarrassing.

BTW, I'm not looking for insurance to cover it...

Oh well then just start getting quotes. I wanted to get to a certain weight before I had any surgery because I want some fat transfers so I won't be losing after I have surgery but if you are self pay, you can get someone to do surgery on you. Do you want it in Chicago or are you willing to travel? Girl, PM me. I have a whole list of Drs for you.

  3. I can! I love how it makes me feel and the results I get following a ketogenic diet. I actually prefer my keto meals. Grains and sugar make my joints hurt and my feet swell.
  4. I am so carb sensitive that I can't lose at all if I eat carbs. 170 pounds down and still can't touch a carb without gaining. Do what works for you.
  5. Hey y'all!  Still plugging along.  I see something have changed.  :-)

My arms are bad but only it I am making a T, And who does that really in real life. They are okay down to my side. I wear 26 inch hair and that easily covers my arms, lol

LOL! Mine are so bad I can't wear blouses unless I buy a 22 or 24 and I need an 18 in the body.

    4. OutsideMatchInside

      OutsideMatchInside

Yeah I pretty much have to buy sleeveless dresses because I can wear a size 8 in dresses as long as it doesn't have arms, if it has arms I need a 10. I wear blazers or other jackets.

If I only get one plastic surgery it will be my arms

  6. Had my 18 month follow up with my surgeon yesterday. I've lost 164 pounds. He said that it's up to me if I want to keep losing weight, but he is pleased with my progress and told me to lose until I feel comfortable. I'm far from a healthy weight, so I will continue to try to lose...

@OutsideMatchInside I won't lie. I did fall off the wagon for about 5 weeks and quickly regained 16 pounds. So after Thanksgiving, I recommitted myself and have lost 17 since then. I really see how it's just a tool and the first 6-9 months are a jumpstart to keep you motivated. I'm never going back to 400+ pounds. I've invested too much.

@WLSResources/ClothingExch Thank you for the encouragement. I have a tendency to be really hard on myself. I'm kind of a perfectionist. I hate to disappoint anyone. Thankfully, he was proud.

      WLSResources/ClothingExch

Hey, Her, fie on the surgeon. Let's hear you say that you're proud and full of yourself. I know all about not measuring up to my standards for myself. Shall we both take a vow to cut it out? It's a new year and new day.

    4. OutsideMatchInside

      OutsideMatchInside

Yeah it really just is a tool. You can eat around it so easy. The beginning just gives you a jump state and hopefully helps you learn good habits. Congrats on losing after a relapse and not letting the relapse take over.

  7. The scale is pretty much standing still, nevertheless I am continuing to work with this sleeve. I have not had a single carb or sugar since November 25th. I quickly re-lost the holiday gain but have been at a standstill for a couple weeks. 18 month appointment with my surgeon on 12/30. Praying for a 3lb miracle, lol.

I'm thinking about trying a fat fast. I've been trying to figure out a meal plan. You did it for 10 days? What did your meals look like?

    3. OutsideMatchInside

      OutsideMatchInside

No I did my fat fast for 3 days and it broke my stall

    4. OutsideMatchInside

      OutsideMatchInside

You can only fat fast for 3 to 5 days max

  8. For containers, I just use the gladware ones. They're cheap and you can just toss em if you don't want to be bothered with upkeep.
  9. If you have a cooler, pack shakes, string cheese, yogurt, cottage cheese (in the individual cups), P3 snacks...
  10. her1981

    HMMM.....

My hunger never went away... it's a constant struggle. Even now.

    The pace race

@@VSG Angel Better stick to your plan then! I was down 100 pounds after 4 months or so, and then things got REALLY slow.

    The pace race

LOL at your transformation diss... I was a "slow loser" from jump. The first 2 weeks after surgery I was only down like 9 pounds. I was pissed! But stay the course and in a few months you'll probably be down 100 pounds...
  13. Lost 3 more pounds!!! Changed up my food and got things moving again. I'm thrilled! :-)

  14. Officially down 160 pounds! I was already low carb, but I'm finding that my tolerance for carbs is nil. Now, onward to my goal. :-)

Congrats! Yeah my carb tolerance is pretty low also. When I cut the few I added in out, scale started moving super fast again.

why 9 months? a wedding? some other event? just asking because if you give yourself a timeframe, you just set yourself up for possible failure. don't do that to yourself my dear.

to get to doctor's goal before I'm discharged from the bariatric program - and going to Disneyland. I'm still at a weight where this goal should be possible (277) with a lot of hard work.

Doing well. Losing VERY slowly now. I had to work on my mental. After losing an average of 10-15 pounds a month and then suddenly only losing 1 pound a month is very discouraging. However, it seems it's starting to pick up again.

  17. I'm still here...plugging along. :-)

    Any ideas?

@@kmorri I follow a low carb diet, so I'm not entirely sure what the deal is. And actually, my diet is no different than it was before. My portions are just greatly diminished with fewer cheat days.
  19. So I had my one year post op appointment. They did full labs and my cholesterol was normal in the beginning and now it's high. How can it be and I've lost 156 pounds? I am truly baffled!
  20. I have a shopping/hoarding problem... after donating and giving away tons of bags of clothes, I've still managed to sell $1,000+ worth of clothing, with more stuff to get rid of!

#9grammy Me either. I'm more selective than I used to be because I have more options. I don't settle as often just because it fits.

@@Inner Surfer Girl My overall cholesterol is 234, but the ratio was still under 5, so no meds are needed. I walk about 3 miles a day and do some strength training when I feel like it.

@@LowBMISleever That's what they asked me. No family history and I don't eat a lot of red meat. I suspect it's the dairy, so I'm gonna try to cut back and see if that's it. My good AND bad cholesterol went up, but my triglycerides went down.
  24. Why must I be a "big arm bandit"? My arms are HORRIBLE and make me look so much bigger!!!!!!

    1. OutsideMatchInside

      OutsideMatchInside

My arms are big but they are looking better since they have tanned in the summer. Plus it seems like wearing sleeveless stuff draws less attention to them than short sleeve, so I have been in sleeveless tanks and tops a lot this summer
