  4. @SammieKay This is your 2nd thread in a month asking this question. Everyone that has the procedure that I have read their posts have been self pay, the few people that said insurance covered it confused it with VSG. There are only a few surgeons performing the surgery and none are in Alabama. Also Alabama is a state that does not consider bariatric coverage a necessity and plans, marketplace plans, are not required to provide any weight loss or bariatric coverage in the state of Alabama.
  5. @SammieKay Pretty sure none, it is experimental surgery done by a handful of doctors in the US. They just started covering the sleeve, it will be years before this is added to the list if ever. Call the Mayo Clinic and ask them.
  6. Have you called your Dr Office about it? When my diabetes corrected after surgery, my vision changed, then normalized.
  7. I'm single. I had surgery and live alone. It isn't hard. Just have premise protein shakes.
  8. I'd go to Vegas. More than mexico, less than 19K https://blossombariatrics.com/

  10. i took them for a week and could not function at all. They made me so sleepy. I was passing out in the middle of the afternoon. Between those and blood pressure meds, it would be basically zero life quality. Those meds are the main reason I picked surgery.
  11. I have the same issue but my Dr knows it is because of my weight loss. No meds.

  13. I will fully admit that I had an easy recovery but I want to add. You are never going to better until you are getting some nourishment. So you should sip on broth with unflavored Protein powder all day. You are always going to feel sick and ill until you get get over 600 calories a day. The longer you go without eating and the less you eat, the harder it is going to be to eat and the worse you are going to feel. You are just going to feel weaker each day. Drink protein that is a Water consistency all day. Options are broth with Protein Powder, Protein2O water, Syntrax nectars. Even someone with a stricture should be able to get down liquids that are of a watery consistency.
  14. Everytime I shave my armpits I am annoyed. That is the only fat padding I really miss. I think I am going to go back to Nair for that area, luckily I'm not hairy so it doesn't matter much. Prior to losing weight my legs were so big and everything so far apart, it barely looked like I had leg hair. Now that my legs are small I see all the little hairs all the time! driving me nuts. Someone posted a picture in a different thread about the proper way to sit and for the most part, that has solved my painful butt issues. Still can't find clothes in my size. All women have the same problem, no matter what size you are, everyone is wearing that size. When I was wearing XL, I thought there were no XLs because everyone was in them, Now I wear a L, still nothing. My friend wears a small or a xs, same problem
  15. Thank you for clarifying these topics. Especially gluten free. Most gluten free items on store shelves are more carbs than their gluten versions. They are not low carb or low calorie items. Also, almost everything at Panera is bad for you except the black coffee!
  16. This article is so on point. So many people see life through fat tinted lenses, that they are blinded to the fact that other people have the same struggles. This weekend I was trying on clothes and 2 other ladies were in the dressing room. One was complaining to her friend that she had to get size 10 at this store, but she normally wears an 8. The friend responded "The size doesn't matter as long as it fits right", with an exasperated voice. These were two thin young woman that don't look like they have ever struggled with weight. A lot of the women here, myself included, complain about clothing sizes but that isn't an issue exclusive to WLS patients, all women have the same gripes.
  17. If you don't eat animal Protein, then substitute the protein of your choice. If you are vegan or vegetarian you are should already be used to this.
  18. You have to remove all metal. No exceptions.
  19. I have never liked iceberg lettuce. I find that post-op I have zero interest in eating things that I don't love. That could be a thread all by itself.
  20. I have never ate lettuce based salads because lettuce has zero nutritional value. I like baby spinach salads. Spinach totally breaks down. I can eat a lot of spinach and I find it makes a great afternoon snack. 3 ounces of spinach is 1/3 of a bag of a spinach, and 20 calories.
