    Delayed menstrual cycle?

I've heard good things about the mirena here. I think I'll give it a go. Thanks for sharing!! I am on my second Mirena and I do love it...no remembering, etc....it also mellows out the horrible symptoms I was having before.....super bleeding, premenopausal, etc..The worst part was the pain of insertion and removal...for me anyway, especially since never having kids (spreading of stuff down there)...but it was over pretty quick.....getting thick black stitches taken out of my hand was a close second in pain level.....even the surgery pain was much less....not trying to scare you, just info worth it though and it does go away fast....make sure to take ibuprofen/pain meds before and after

    Delayed menstrual cycle?

Btw, I had the mirena our prior to surgery and still do, works great and pre op it lessened my periods a lot, getting back to one maybe every other month now and fairly light and short, whew :-) now I am jumping insurance hoops hoping to get a hysterectomy....get this crap out, causes more trouble than it's worth (long history of issues) plus I don't and have never wanted kids so I want it all out :-) stay safe......Val

    Delayed menstrual cycle?

My surgeon said I can go back on the pill as soon as I start my period... just playing the waiting game! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

    Delayed menstrual cycle?

The surgery, for whatever reason, does throw off our cycles....everyone is different, but still....1 1/2 years later, mine is still iffy at times, just now getting back on track Your surgeon should have told you, at least the first year, we tend to be SUPER fertile...lots get preg in the first year...so be extra careful

    Getting enough protein?

I am always surprised at how many people' docs or NUTs don't give them enough info...mine covered EVERYTHING....for the first month or so you are NOT going to make your goals..you are still healing and such...and you will work your way up there. The scary thing for me is everything making you sick...for this I would contact you dr immediately about it...if you are throwing up everything that means you are getting NOTHING..and that is NOT good for you, your healing pouch anything, you are also probably dehydrated from it which can make pains extra painful. PLEASE, call your dr or your doc on call (late night) to get help, especially if the nausea meds are not doing anything Good Luck! Love Light and Blessings...Val
  6. Mine was super easy too...I still think maybe something is up...the only trouble I had was the horrible constipation the first week....it was AWFUL! we aren;t supposed to strain that early (I had not gone in over a week and I really needed to) and it felt like I was passing a softball...sorry for the TMI....after a call to the on call doc at the hospital in the middle of the night and taking some magnesium citrate, I finally went and felt AWESOME! Really...other than that it was so easy....I still have trouble getting in all my liquids (I get close), but sometimes I am amazed how much of certain foods I can eat if I do it mindlessly.....You are not alone...I healed really quick too.....some of us get lucky I guess, everyone is different. Good Luck!! Val
  7. I had a cast Iron stomach pre and just after (maybe 5-6 months) it was more sensitive but again I can eat just about anything...some stuff makes me queasier than before...like raw onions (cooked are fine), go figure and rice was touch and go for a long time..some could come from age related I guess...but I am really surprised how much I can eat at times....and other times how little...depends on the food and what not....I am over a year out, and have lost a total of about 102 lbs. (including my pre-op 40) so we are stunned by the slow down, I lost SO FAST and SO MUCH at first (1-2 months) then it really slowed and the last 6 months I have been stalled in the same 5-10 lbs......we cut my calories back to 1500 (yes, I admit to the occasion cheat or bad choices, but the head takes much longer to catch up to the body) Tummy wise, I named her Rosarita cause from the beginning she LOVED spicy stuff
  8. YAY!!!! I totally get this....I was a few months out and got into my car after a doctors appointment and it suddenly hit me....I wasn't breathing hard and my legs didn't hurt! (was a bit of a walk from the car park to the building!) and each time I went it stunned me! Good Luck!! Love Light and Blessings! xx BB Val

    Ladies! Menstruation

Ladies, don't forget that since it does mess up our hormones we tend towards super fertility...so take EXTRA precautions for at least the 1st year after surgery...tons of women get pregnant in the 1st year after bariatric surgery

    Ladies! Menstruation

I was sleeved just over a year ago and my period is just now getting back to sort of normal. I have an IUD and before surgery very rarely had a period so I couldn;t really keep track...I have always had weird periods anyway..but after surgery they were VERY frequent if not constant and tended to be very heavy.....now ( I was sleeved on May 13, 2015) I get them like every month and a half....some are heavy some not and I do tend to have spotting on and off in between (dark brownish, like old blood)...just make sure you always have something with you is my advice...since every body is different you never know when you will "even out"...so just go with the flow...pun intended. lol My gyno had never really heard of this surgery making hormones go wacko so she had me to ALL KINDS of testing...many painful to rule out stuff...would not want to do that again! I think she is fairly convinced my wacky periods are due to the surgery now...but this last year was hard in that area! Good luck sister! Val Love Light and Blessings xx

    Menstrual - kind of gross

    You are welcome

    Menstrual - kind of gross

I am coming up to my 1 year after surgery, and my periods have only recently have started to get back to normal...I also had a lot of discharge (mostly brown too = old blood in your body).....worked it way into having my period in one form or another almost all the time for many months. I have an IUD so I was used to rarely having a period, so needless to say this is ticking me off LOL Anyway, my gyno didn;t believe that the surgery could do all this so I have had ALL KINDS of testing "to make sure"...many painful too...and nothing is wrong.......just gotta let my body work itself out! If you are really freaking out, talk to you surgeon or your gyno....whatever you need to feel better....however, this soon after, I would say it is "normal"....everyone is different and you need to listen to your own body and do what makes you feel comfy! Good luck! Val

    Gas!

Hi, I am about 10 months out from surgery and still have a ton of gas...my doc says that since our tummy's are smaller, foods can't sit as long as before so they move through our systems faster and come out faster, hence more gas passing...for me it can get really bad at times (run all kinds of people off LOL)...She did say it will get better over time (just like everything else, each person's experience will be diff) That I can take gasx if it is super bothersome, but other than that I just have to deal....also, severity, etc. will depend on what you eat, just like pre surgery I have talked to people who have it still after years and others who hardly ever had any....cie la vie Take care and good luck! Val
  14. Was just wondering if there is anyone out there that has saggy, loose, flabby skin on their genitals (pubis) after loosing all the weight. My weight loss is slow going and whatnot, but I am still down over 100lbs. from my highest and am now noticing this. I was ready and expecting the loose saggy skin everywhere else...so I have no idea why I didn;t for this area?!? lol Is there even any exercises to do for this area...it's not like it's muscle under it or anything? Just flab....and is there anyone else out there dealing with this? Am I alone here? LOL Thanks, Val
  15. ok, never even thought about it as a part of the plastic surgery add ons I already have my surgeon picked out for when the time comes...Thanks everyone! Any clue as to what the procedure is called? Val
  16. was sleeved in May 2015 and since then my hands and feet are almost always cold...Dr. said is is because of the rapid weight loss and will more than likely get better after I reach or get close to where my body thinks is right for me...so 1-2 years post op...give or take. I use warm drinks too or rub them together a lot Good luck! xx

    Hair loss?

Mine started at almost exactly 3 months out and it is slowing now that I am just past 6 months...luckily for me my hair is really thick so it didn;t really make much of an impact...just have those short hairs showing that are growing back. I have also been on a Hair, Skin and Nails supplement for years (Biotin) that I really do think has helped. It will grow back, so try not to freak out too much Hope this helps! Blessings!

    Itchy palms driving me crazy!

you are having an allergic reaction to something, take some benadryl and talk to your doc about it....will prob do some allergy testing and try to figure out what caused it....could be that something you ate is something you are allergic to now. I have had allergies all my life, but they have changed over the years. Right now, I am having the hand and foot itching too...just take extra allergy meds in addition to my pharm and after a while the histamine is out of my system. Good luck...I know the struggle of it, can drive you nuts

    TMI - Gas :(

I am six months out and still have a TON of gas..not sure why...it does seem to be lessening some, but it can get really bad...not really anything works...the gas x strips do nothing, they only helped with the gas int he hospital and right after, burping etc.....but the gas at the other end, nothing helps...I figure its best to get it out...it's a natural body process, gross as it can be....learning to live with it....at least I fit in the my BF and his son (gassy dudes LOL) and my dog is worse than all of ours put together! lol Good luck!

    stuck pills

I guess everyone and every doc is different....I was taking my pills the evening of my surgery (in hospital)...no problems...wasn;t taking my usual handful however...I am 6 months out and back to taking my many many pills again with no issues, never had any trouble. Everyone is different sorry yuou had all that trouble, hope it all gets better soon xx
  22. ValerieDee1975
