Are you looking for the BariatricPal Store? Go now!

Where do you shop for your vitamins, protein powders and other supplies?

Recommended Posts

I'm not trying to load up on too much stuff so early in my six month timeline, but I would like to try a few of the staples that'll become frequent eats once I'm post-op.

Are there products, websites and prices that you can recommend I try?

Even grocery store items?

I'm also a costco member of that helps.

Thanks !

I just ordered a starter kit from unjury.com to test those bad boys out. And going to Sam's today to see if they have premier Protein.

I've purchased Unjury sample kit as.well, unjury seems to be the only one I like aside from Premier Protein. Sams does have them, where I'm located anyways. 12 pack for $18.88...only place I can find it!

Also our local Vitamins shoppe hosts a bariatric night once a month where u can come and sample tons of Protein powders and drinks. Even on a regular day they are really good with letting u sample. Try them!!

Cool.

Thanks.

We have a Vitaminshoppe and a Sam's.

I dropped Sam's membership after costco came to town. May be time to ease back in there and look around.

My number 1 favorite Protein can be purchased at costco. It is called Premier Protein and they are ready made shakes. They do go on sale fairly regularly.

chocolate is the best flavor but strawberries and cream is pretty good as well.

Drink them ice cold and shake them up before you open them. They do not have that gritty, nasty Protein flavor you get with some shakes.< /p>

I also use Syntrax Nectars for something different. I order them on Amazon and love fuzzy naval, caribbean cooler and vanilla bean torte. You could also order a sampler that has all the different flavors for you to try.

I prefer the grab and go because it is all pre measured, all you have to do is add Water or milk.

Drugstore.com has a lot of Protein products. I get Quest bars and GNC lean 25 shakes through them and they seem to have good prices.

You can get a batch of samples of Syntrax nectar directly from the manufacturer.

Edited to add: I get Vitamins from drugstore.com, too.

www.BariatricPantry.com is reasonably priced, fast shipping and has some sample packs.

Amazon and costco are my besties!! I am extremely choosy, and I dislike EVERY Protein shake. I replaced Protein shakes with Oikos Triple Zero Greek yogurt (120 calories, 15g protein), but you'll have to check with your nutritionist if that's okay pre/post-op. I seem to be like the ONLY one who hates Protein Shakes so much. costco does have Premier at a great price, but Walmart also usually has 4-packs if you want to sample (the price is not nearly as good). My nutritionist also had samples of items. I have spent a FORTUNE trying to find one I like, and there are just none that I like. As for Vitamins, I get most of mine between Amazon and Costco. Costco has great prices on sublingual B12, Biotin, and Iron (and I also bought chewable vit C to help Iron absorption). On Amazon I got a multi called Vita-Mini at an exceptional price, but they don't seem to be available now (I ordered several but will be sad if they don't come back in stock when I need more)...they are super-tiny swallowable tabs as I hate chewables. I also got Calcium citrate in powder form from Amazon, again because I don't like the chalky chewables. My nutritionist also recommended Citrical Petites for people who don't like the chews. I have found that Costco and Amazon are far better priced than even Target and Walmart. Know that products that are specifically marketed for bariatric patients tend to be very heavily marked up, and for the most part you can avoid them unless you really don't want to.

Thank you !!!

That gives me some serious leads.

Oikos Triple Zero Greek yogurt and Quest bars are big favorites already. Glad to know they'll be staples.

Hey Dub,

Something to keep in the back of your head when buying Protein is what you might like pre op you may not like post op. So just good advice to try sample packs unless you have money burning a hole in your pocket. Just an FYI. Didnt know if anyone else covered that. I like Unjury, Quest, and Syntrax Nectar. Best of luck to you. Brian

Another option for online ordering of some items is Netrition (netrition.com). I buy some items from them as they are cheaper for some stuff and have some items that other places don't. I also end up buying things from Amazon, Walmart, Albertsons, Kroger, costco, Vitamin Shoppe, and Celebrate Vitamin (website) depending on what I need, coupons and sales.

Protein shakes, bars and powder have a long shelf life so I stockpile during good sales - my pantry is starting to resemble a GNC or something, but I'm far enough post-op that I doubt my tastes will change... and surgery didn't really change them either, in my case.

Thanks everyone.

I'll tell ya folks........right now I'm feeling mighty confident with the selection of Protein powders in my Neighborhood Market grocery store.

They have some great tasting varieties.

Another product that is simply killer is Oikos Triple Zero in all it's outstanding flavors, too. Superb product for sure.

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
