VGSmommy, good for you. Sounds like you have hit the "dreaded 3 week stall". I did last week. It sure was discouraging. Keep up the hard work.

Hey. I will be 4 weeks wed. I have lost a total of 22lbs. But haven't lost a pound in about 4 days.

I've lost 22 from my pre-surgery weight, 28 if you count the 6 pounds I gained in the hospital! I hit a stall last week and it was horrible. I was checking the scale constantly!

Don't worry about the day to day weights, the scale WILL budge. Just have patience and do your best!

I turn 4 weeks this Thurs. Doc had me on "regular" foods after our two week meeting. Don't understand why everyone else still on mush or liquids. Chew well and all OK. Eyes still bigger than stomach. Still doing shakes but about 1/day. For lunch had a little chicken finger with 2.5 tablespoons of cottage cheese and a few spoons of crushed pineapple.

Hit a stall at end of week two and have been about the same weight for about 11 days. This with deep Water aerobics every morning and a couple of 1.5 mile walks 2x a week. Dropped a quick 20 in the 2 weeks after surgery. Want this stall to blow past with some significant weight loss!

I am 4 week today. There is no way I could eat 1 chicken finger, 2.5 tbsp of cottage cheese and some crushed pineapple. I might be able to get in the chicken finger if it was small. I still can not finish 1 boiled egg

All surgeons and NUTs are different. For instance, I've heard a lot of people say they were told to avoid alcohol for a year or even forever, but I just recently asked my surgeon and he said I'll be fine to drink this week, just one month post-op. I only start soft foods this week and "regular" food in a couple more.

Good luck with your stall! I had a bad one last week and finally broke it this weekend.

Maybe drinking this week is fine, but in reality is that really the best choice for successful, long term weight loss? Alcohol is just empty carbs and calories. I totally understand that you have to do what you want to do. I just know that I want the sleeve to work the best it can for me. And that means making good food choices now and forever. Limiting fats and carbs for the rest of my life. Not just during the honeymoon period.

I have an event that I told a friend I'd go to a while back. Tickets are bought and I want to do something fun. I was 100% prepared to cancel when I asked my surgeon when I could have alcohol again, and I was surprised when he said it was okay. I'm planning on having a non-carbonated drink, maybe two, and that's it. I'm sure it's not going to help me, but I don't think it's going to hurt either. For me, it's worth it.

The point is I discussed it with my surgeon first and am adhering to my own plan set by my surgeon and NUT. I trust him completely and if he says it's okay, then I feel comfortable drinking in moderation.

I have my one month spot on Friday which I hope will be the day I start on the soft diet. I am only down 16lbs since surgery which is disappointing because 13 of that was in the first 10 days!!! Hopefully when I go on Friday I will be down 20lbs as I see my scale is moving past the dreaded 3 week stall! Can't believe I am already at 4 weeks, went fast! Exercising is moving a long but still a little tired at times. Puréed food is still working for me and I only get about 2-2.5 oz in, including Protein and veggies/fruit.

I hit the stall too, but before I knew it, it was over! It'll come and go quickly, though I'm sure we'll all have tons of other stalls too. I read somewhere on this site (I think it was a Do's and Don'ts section) to never say "only lost xx pounds" because it's negative thinking. Sixteen pounds from your body is gone for good! Celebrate every pound gone and keep working to make sure it doesn't come back.

How did the gym go? I haven't gone back yet but will be asking my surgeon about it today. I still have some abdominal pain so I'm a little worried.

Maybe I need to go back and have the doc take out more stomach?

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Your so close now! It's gonna be great :) Wishing you a speedy recovery and looking forward to seeing how it goes!

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
