How long did your incisions take to heal?

Recommended Posts

I'm 2.5 weeks post op and 2 of my incisions are still quite tender. In fact, picking up my toddler set one of them back considerably a few days ago. Just wondered how long it was before others felt fully healed at the wound sites?

Mine looked/felt healed by around 2 weeks. How much does your toddler weigh? I wasn't supposed to lift over 20 pounds for 3 weeks. After that I was lifting 40-60 pounds with no problems. A lot of people have stricter lifting restrictions for even longer. I read on here no more than 8 pounds for 6 weeks for one patient!

Thanks for you replies. I was told no lifting the kids for a week. I lifted the baby then and my 34lb toddler at 2 weeks. I guess I'll try and take it easier if I can

All of my incisions healed except for one that is high up on my stomach. I believe the belly band iritated it and it became infected. I'm 2 weeks out and and the rest look great. I'm on antibiotics for the one, I really hopes it heals quick.

I'm one week post op and my incisions are still a little painful but I can't pick up anything over 5lbs.

Yeah I was told to restrict lifting to 15lbs until 8 weeks just to be safe from hurting incisions and risking internal injuries. My daughter knows I can't pick her up for quite a while (40lbs)

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.
