Mine is scheduled for July 1st and I know it's the right thing to do but pain terrifies me! Fear of failure terrifies me! I feel panic attacks as I read stuff on the Internet! I am judged by those around me who say I am copping out and I just need to get off my behind. How can I stop from getting in my own head and questioning myself because I know if I don't do it now I may never get another chance?

One way to minimize the pain is to get your walking in. Walk around 30 minutes each day before surgery and then walk while you are in the hospital post-op.

I felt very little pain after the operation. As a matter of fact, I refused any pain medicine after I left the recovery room. My pain level at most was 1 on a scale of 10. But I am an exception. The fact that the surgery was done laparoscopically significantly reduces the pain level after surgery. Walking really alleviates the soreness.

Fear of failure is a common fear. Just follow the program requirements and you should do fine.

Just remember, you wouldn't be given approval by insurance for the surgery if you hadn't already tried "just getting off your behind" several times with very little success. And as far as being terrified of pain, that's why you will be more successful post surgery because you will do whatever needs to dome to avoid it! Have faith. You can do this!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
