Recommended Posts

I have never posted before. I had RNY on July 3rd 2014. Weighed 237 when discharged got down to 140 by January. Have maintained that weight I think I go by clothes size I fit into a size 5/7 from 18/20. The 7s do not fit anymore. I all of a sudden have went back to a 11 large muffin top has developed I look pregnant pregnant belly sticking out. 2 weeks ago I had a flat stomach. Going to try 5 day pouch test. I am severely sad. I don't know what I'm doing wrong.

I would absolutely yo back to the basics. Start with the pouch test. Track everything you eat and drink, ensure the rules are in place:

Nothing to eat or drink 30 minutes before and 30 minutes after

Measure your food

64 oz. of Water

1 gram of Protein for every inch you are tall

Exercise - 30 minutes a day minimum

I would venture to guess if you go back and look you have let some of the basics fall off and that is why you are gaining,

This is what I would

Are you bound up? Have you had any health changes? If no, my guess is you've been ignoring the signs of weight creeping back--I've been there! I'm 5 years out and 140# down. I weigh twice a day and allow 2 pounds up or down. More than that for more than 3 days and it's diet time.

Journal--honestly. Where do you keep your food? Have you fallen back into old habits? Best wishes for you to find the power to beat the beast.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
