Any teachers in here?!?

Recommended Posts

I am a kindergarten teacher, had my sleeve 6 days ago, Although I am in no pain, I get very tired easily. I would def say wait until Christmas break or summer break to have it (I know, more waiting) but you'll be glad you have several weeks just to rest... Your body will need it! :)

I've been awake and alert since about 6pm. I took a nap and just went on my first walk. A little cramping in my intestines but otherwise I feel good

Myjourneyagain, how amazingly helpful is the walking? I just got back from my second. ????

Freelee,

You will do so awesome! The anticipation while in preop was by far the worst part of this journey.

I am a middle school teacher. My Dr wanted to schedule for Christmas, but wanted me to take an additional week. I am saving my time for my adoption maternity leave that is also currently in process. I chose to wait until summer. I was sleeved June 8th. I an so glad I have time to get used to my new life! I an just worried about getting enough Water and teach. I was joking that I might need a camel pack or use a beer hat (replace with water of course) :-)

I'm yet holding on. I was very weak today although I was constantly walking. I'm going to stay one more night to be on safe side. Trying to get my liquids in but it's very hard. I'm at about 40oz for the whole day.

I am scheduled for June 30. I am very excited. I was hoping for last Christmas but had to wait. i also had to the 6 months nutrition appointments. In a way I am glad. It really did help me get a better understanding of what I will be going through. I have been able to do a lot of reserch. I feel as though I am better prepared. I know that there are things that will come up that I could not prepare myself for, but a least I tried.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Your so close now! It's gonna be great :) Wishing you a speedy recovery and looking forward to seeing how it goes!
