My date has been set for July 10th. This will be a birthday present to myself. A new start to my new life. My follow up is also scheduled the day before my birthday. I am very excited because this is something I want it for the past 3 years. Any advice and suggestions for this process is always welcome!

Congrats! I'm assuming your in Atlanta due to your screen name? I'm in Atlanta as well and I'm in month 4 of the 6 month pre op process required by my insurance company. Hopefully my surgery will be in August after my approval. Who's your surgeon?

Lol... Yes I live in Atlanta. Dr Tuggle from Peachtree Bariatrics will be my surgeon. Good luck with everything because I was at the point where I didn't think I would get approved but God has a different plan for me. Please stay in contact and keep me updated on your progress.

And thank you so much!

Yes! This waiting for 6 months is a test of my patience but I'm trusting that God knows I need the long process. I'm with Dr. Macik at Northside Bariatrics, I've gone through the psych evaluation and nutritionist so I'm just going through the 2 more weigh ins. Please keep me updated on your process. I look forward to this new leash on life :-)

I have an appointment for my first consult with Dr. Macik this coming Thursday. Is the six months an insurance requirement, or is six months if you self-pay too?

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
