Dry food I generally weigh, wet food I'll usually use a measuring cup. meat is before cooking, rest is after. I don't just measure to avoid discomfort either, I measure because there are some things that I can really overeat if I don't measure or weigh. For instance, I don't have to be a fanatic about weighing my meat just because I am so used to eyeballing pretty well and I will not overeat meat, it just sits so heavy. However, I can eat several ounces of nuts or cheese so I weigh them out into 1 oz portions to watch my calories.

I have a small flat digital scale that will tare to Zero after I put a dish on it. I put my saucer on it, tare to zero, and then measure my food out right onto my plate. It was less than $20 at Walmart. I am also a big fan of the little 4 oz Rubbermaid containers.... for storage and pre-portioning Snacks or foods to go to work.

Mainly I use a digital kitchen scale since normally I weigh meat portions (after cooking). I also use a measuring cup for peanuts. Just because I measure doesn't ensure no discomfort though. I just ate a 3 oz portion of chicken that was too much for my tummy. It doesn't feel good right now. Part of avoiding the discomfort is eating slowly enough and listening to your body when it says enough. A lesson I'm still learning...

Oddest thing, I have a coughing fit when I full. One small bite (baby spoon) will tip it.

I sigh, do 1 hiccup, or burp... but it isn't dependable. I am having the worst time making myself not take another bite when I think I am done. So many times I think "is that it? should I be done?"... and wait a minute then have another bite.... and that one last bite will leave me sliming or uncomfortable.

I have a digital scale to weigh most foods. I also use 4 oz storage cups to put prepared foods in so all I have to do is open the cup up & eat. I know when I'm full because I hiccup about 5 or 6 times. Then I'm OK. I try not to overeat because I feel really ill for about an hour or two.

I've been sleeved for a year & it's very easy to become lazy & stop weighing/measuring food. I have not lost any weight in about 4 weeks so I have to be more careful about what I eat. I'm going to use the 5DPT (5 Day Pouch Test) to get myself back on track & get back in the habit of weighing/measuring my food. I downloaded the book onto my Kindle & it has some very good information. The author had WLS a few years ago so she knows what everyone is going thru.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
