Overeating ?

Recommended Posts

I am 15 days post-op and finding it hard to eat as little as I am suppose to because food just taste so good after being on a liquid diet for so many days. I am following my post op diet, I love sweet patato and tonight I had some and wow was I aching after feeling very sore. It keeps happening but food just taste so good. I am not eating alot at all , its hard to have a couple of bites and be done. I am trying to go as slow as I can to make it last but 2-4 oz just doesnt last very long:) On an average what and how much are you eating in a day , or do you remember how much you did have the first month ? Its strange I keep back tracking on what I ate, I feel like I ate way to much because I am sooooo full when I am sure it isnt 1200 calories but I am use to this feeling after eating two huge helpings of what ever I was having for dinner. I am sure you must relate  Kim

If you are still looking for a reply---- I am 7 weeks post op and I have been able to eat 1/2-1 cup at each meal. On rare occasions 1 1/2 cups depending on the food. I stick to salads and chicken most of the time as well as cheese and wheat crackers, fruit and scrambled eggs. So far I have been able to eat just about anything just in smaller portions. I am like you in that I am not slowing down enough and I am still trying to hear my body's cues that I am full or not hungry. Overall I am thrilled with my results and I am taking in 1000-1500 calories a day. It varies. Good luck with your banding experience.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
