Hi everyone, I was so proud of myself when I started out on this journey. I started walking. The first time I walked 3 1/2 blocks to the front of my church and had to stop and rest before I could make it back. The next day I did the same thing. I made it one more block the next day. Each day I walked a little farther until I was walking to the cemetery to visit my husband and clean the debris from his grave.

Then the rains came. Light rain I could continue to walk in, but these were like Asian monsoons, with tornados to boot. I say were, they're still going on. I've been looking for a secondhand treadmill or something along that line because there's no way I can afford a new one. We all know half the people out there that have them bought them after making New Year's resolutions and now they're sitting in a bedroom being used as a clothes rack, but no one seems to want to get rid of them.

My daughter suggested getting a Wii. They're a fun way to get exercise. I might look into that, but again, it will have to be second hand.

I have, however, discovered the exercise and fitness shows on TV. I found two that were Christian based and really enjoyed the workout.

So, for all you newbies in Texas, like me, that are trying to get that exercise with out being washed away, there are quite a few options still available. Then there'd always swimming. It may become necessary.

@SusanDavenporr2015. I am so proud of your progress. Thanks for the story it made me smile and giggle hearing about those "Asian monsoons". I have discovered the workout videos on television. I have x-finity and I go on demand where there are 100's of videos anytime 24hrs a day. Walking videos, strength training, cardio, pilates, yoga and I can go on and on... There is no excuse and I can't wait until after my surgery when I can REALLY move around... Julian Michaels look out. I will make it through your entire video without stopping or passing out, lol.

Thanks for sharing!!

Started to buy swim fins and goggles when I took advantage of a relatively dry spell today and walked to the dollar store with my daughter and her husband. Figured I'd need them and maybe some Water wings next time I went out. Gonna learn to swim up stream like the salmon.

I generally like to mow for part of my exercise. Someone needs to remind Mother Nature that we are in Texas! Lol The rain has been nice but this Texas girl is Getting cabin fever.

Lol, a friend posted a pic of his neighbor out in the pouring rain on his riding mower. Dude was soaked to the skin.

I grew up in Oregon but been 30 years in Texas. My gills disappeared a long time ago. I'd try mowing but my son-in-law's mower takes special know how and I don't know the password. When it'd dry enough I work in my flower beds and I like to walk the dog, all but the American bulldog. She wants to pull. We're working on that though.

When it drys up some I'm going to get the kids to start taking me out to the lake on the weekends. It's been awesome the amount of energy I have developed from the exercise program I HAVE been able to do. When I walked to the Dollar store I felt great. I have plans to help out with VBS and our church's program to help home owners that are disabled or low income with home repair. (They won't let me actually work

@@SusanDavenporr2015 I loved your story of walking in the rain...

I've always found that asking around is the best way to spread word of what you need in this world.

I did just that, asked around....I wanted a treadmill and low and behold, my sister told me that my ex brother in law was actually selling one on FB, at first I asked him if I could make payments, as it was a bit pricey for me, but he not only reduced the price, he offered to bring it over and set it up. It's also exactly what I needed, a treadmill with shock absorbing features, since I have bad knees, this will be so much better for me than the concrete sidewalks, until I get my knee surgeries. And, he's hardly used it. Maybe 10 times he said!

Now that's a blessing from the Universe that came almost immediately when my need arose.

Ask around, you just never know who might have one to even give away! And will move it for you too! Best of luck in finding what you need.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
