Hi. I'm about 12 weeks out from bypass surgery. I've lost 50 lbs!! Yay me!

Anyway, I've read that the BC pill doesn't work the same1(99%) after surgery. So I am going to look into an IUD, but in the meantime I just have to say it's 100% true. My BC pill that I have been on for over 3 years is not working. I ovulated this month and my period came 14 days later... Luckily I am not sexually active. I am on the pill bc my periods are really bad.

I tried to talk to my PCP last week and she said she had never heard of it but she also hadn't done much research on it either. So we decided to let my body get used to the weight loss for a few more months before changing anything.

Well the last 3 days have been tortuous for me. I've not been bedridden like this in a long time.

I can't imagine going thru this for another 2-3 months...?

I'm thinking I just need to go ahead and make an appt to get an IUD and be done with this.

Has anyone tried the patch? My insurance covers BC at 100%. I've read the patch is just as good BC it's absorbed through the skin and not the body.

Anybody have any suggestions? I had an IUD many years ago. Had it removed BC we were trying to have kid #2.... And I've had 3 miscarriages.... Not sure if it's related or not but I am not 100% sure that I'm done having kids. Not currently in a relationship but the future is always on my mind. I know not to get pregnant for at least 18 months so I am trying to prevent that should I ever be in a relationship between now and then.

Plus my time of the month is currently unbearable.

Sorry about ranting.... Thanks for listening!!

What about the Nuva Ring?

I'm also interested - I don't really want to go on hormonal bc, but not sure what else to do.

I'm in the same boat. My periods are out of control. I have an appointment with my GYN next week to discuss options.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!
