Only 45 pounds in 5 months? ..anyone? Help please....

This thread has made me so grateful that my surgeon and nutritionist didn't set any deadlines for my weigh loss and set a pretty realistic ultimate weight goal (with no target date). My nutritionist is much more focused on body fat percentage than weight as well, which is nice because I have been doing a lot of strength training and, while the inches keep dropping, the scale is going sooooo slow now.

It was only when I took a heavy parcel to the post office and noticed it was the same as my weight loss total to date that it dawned on me how much I had shed. I was happy with that figure, the bariatric nurse said slow and steady was good, the nutritionalist seemed OK, only the consultant tore a strip off me. Do they all think their skills extend to motivational speaking? Most should stick to slicing and dicing.

Alcohol is fine and won't hurt you but they are very high in calories. A bit occasionally is fine but u will it lose weight and will gain weight with too much alcohol. One margarita can have as much as 800 calories. That's a daily intake for most. So keep that in mind

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
