Is anybody else allowed to have Greek yogurt? It hasn't been too bad for me with yogurt, Soup, and Protein shakes. Are you guys doing broths at all? Have you bought any to prep for after? I'm doing my last bit of shopping this weekend and want to see if anybody has good ideas or brands. =)

I can only have Protein Shakes, half cup of fruit and half cup of veggie a day on my 2 week diet. Then the day before Clear Liquids and citrate of magnesia. The hospital will send me home with a short supply of Protein Shakes and I'll buy little by little once home and see what I tolerate. :)

That doesn't sound too bad! I wish I could have fruit and veggies. I miss bananas! They didn't tell me to do Clear Liquids the day before but I think I'm going to anyway!

I have done ok with the Jay Rabb Protein powders. Also like the EAS protein powders too. This hasn't been horrible for me. Am going to clear liquids probably Sunday clear out colon and clear liquids Monday. I have gotten a few things for post surgery. Am considering ordering the Unjury broth too...

Thanks! =) I've been doing the EAS Protein Shakes and the Premier Protein ones. I was thinking about getting Unjury too, because I have a hard time getting Protein in.

It's normal to be a bit scared - I was! I mean, it IS surgery. But it's a very simple surgery and I had surgery one week ago today and feel really good. I had a small complication with an ab muscle that bled, so that area is sore, but it's nothing serious at all. I have also lost about 5 pounds. :D

Congrats! That's great. =) I'm so nervous because I had to get cleared by a cardiologist for chest pain I was having. They said I was all set but it still makes me nervous! I'm also very scared of leaks!

My surgery is also on the 26th. I have been on the pre-op diet for two weeks and start clear liquids in the morning. I have my Jello, broth, and popsicles all ready to eat. I will be glad to get the next four weeks behind me. Very worried about getting in all of the Water and Protein. Best of luck to everyone. Praying that Tuesday is a great day for surgery.

I hate Jello so I'm a little nervous about post-op but I've been living on Protein Shakes and Greek yogurt so far and it's been good. Good luck!!

I had gastric band surgery in 2004. I will be having conversion to sleeve on the 28th. I have also had a c section and I will tell you recovering from band surgery was a walk in the part compared to c section.

So surgery all done and I'm in my room. More painful than I thought it was going to be. On morphine and still very achy. Also nauseous so on some meds for that. But I'm trucking through and have already done 3 laps around my wing. How is everyone else?

That's great to hear you are up and walking, it will benefit you greatly. Walk, drink, pee go home :)

Question for anyone, how did you get your mind right before surgery? Like as far as eating better foods and just doing better in general? I'm having a really hard time with this. Any help is appreciated 🙏❤️

I had about 6 months between deciding to do surgery and getting scheduled. I came across the book The Pound of Cure by Dr. Matthew Weiner, a bariatric surgeon in Arizona, and started to implement some of the changes he recommended (and lost 13 lbs in the process without ever feeling deprived). The book is very simple, and the focus is on whole, plant based foods, but within reason. It's not an all or nothing approach, or going vegan or something, but focuses on improvement and aiming for getting it right 80-90% of the time. His suggestions are divided into 12 sections that you can tackle over time, perhaps one per month for a year if a person is just trying to improve nutrition and build good habits. They range from things like cutting out artificial sweetener or eating more beans to eating a pound of vegetables per day. I found it really effective pre-surgery and it's an eating style I will be working to get back to as I am further out from surgery and have more capacity. Small changes you can sustain will do the most for building good habits for life.

That sounds awesome. I'll have to check that out thanks!

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
