Lol, are you feeling hungry though? Did the after effects of anesthesia make u feel nauseous? I hear it does. I'm asking for the patch behind the ear, lol.

I was in horrible pain and super nauseous when i woke up in the recovery room. They have me medicine and had already put the patch on me. Luckily u fell asleep and I haven't had any nausea since then. I also haven't been hungry at all, not even a bit. I've been thirsty, but the hunger hasn't come around.

Wow, I am glad that you were able to get some sleep and the pain and nausea subsided. I am happy for you and can't wait to get to that place of having the surgery done and over with next Friday so the healing can begin. You are in an awesome place right now so rest up, heal soon you will be feeling and looking your absolute BEST!

Yeah, the patch definitely helped. It was mandatory for my surgeon. He's even great so far! I've called him twice since I was released because I was freaked out about two things and he was helpful and didn't care that I was bothering him. I'm feeling slightly better today. I think a lot of my pain was from Constipation, not from the surgery. I think the worst part so far has been having to sleep on my back! It sucks! I'm a lifelong side sleeper. Good luck on your surgery! My advice is just to be prepared for everything! Be ready for the hospital stay, and everything post op!

I had surgery this morning. My nausea is still not under control. Its the pain meds I think. They gave me zofren. Its not working all that great. When I try to walk I'm so nauseous I have to lie back down. And the gas pain is horrible so I need to walk. I am kind of disappointed in the nursing staff here. They are not addressing my concerns. I'm at mayo Clinic in Florida.

@alilove2631... So glad to hear that everything went well. Are you able to drink any Water, Protein or broth? I am glad that you are up walking around.

I did well with all three. I was kind of disappointed the Jello was a 'gel snack' sans Gelatin. It seems a healing stomach would be the ideal time for Gelatin.< /p>

The biggest surprise for me was that I needed to insist on my first walks. The recovery room housed a variety of post surgery patients and it wasn't a priority for everyone.

Worst part? My nosy roommate just straight up said, "didn't you even .

want to try to eat less?" Because I'm gosh awful awkward, I just got a frozen smile on my face and told her it was a lovely thing to say: then I hid in the bathroom and went on a mini crying jag.!! On the plus side it was an extra walk. Fitbit had me at 2k+ steps each day I was in the hospital.

I had my surgery Wednesday and got to come home friday. My kidneys didi not initially cooperate. No nausea but a lot of pain which according to the doc is primarily from the hernia repair. Glad to be home now. Not hungry at all but am thirsty and have to drink slowly. Not getting all my Protein yet. Working on that today.

Drinking slowly is the hardest! Partially because you go thirsty so long before you get the go-ahead but for me it's also because my one good habit for years was drinking plenty of Water and no sugary beverages. But I was a gulper for sure.

Drinking Water is going to be a habit that I have to work on because I am so used to it. I feel dehydrated if I don't drink certain amounts and I definitely drink with meals so that will be different for me. I am looking forward to changing my life and learning new things all over again. I welcome everything that comes with this experience. Just like child birth both times, I will do it all over again in a heart beat to feel the happiness that I am feeling today. As of now, I don't have that about myself yes I have joy in everything else in my life but not with myself or within. I am so anxious for that again. Making those milestones and accomplishments for myself will be amazing...

I am so proud of you and all of us here on this forum. Thanks for the updates. You have been amazing in your journey and doing the work. Thanks for keeping us updated...awesome work!

I fear this will be the hardest thing for me to accept and deal with also. I, the same as you only drink water but no doubt a gulper. Does this get any better at all? Are you starting to get used to it? I can't imagine being thirsty and unable to drink enough water to satisfy the dryness.

My concern actually is that while I certainly couldn't chug like I once did, I have no problem drinking like what I imagine a normal person would. Not sure if that's bad? I read in one place where they said if it's just Water it just passes through like a funnel--no worries about stretching things out. On the other hand some folks insist everything will stretch it out. My NUTs advice seemed to presume lots of nausea getting it down.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
