I wanted banded March 2015, my surgeon said he's not going to do a fill until late June. Is this normal? He also so I may not even need a fill then. I was losing 5 pounds a week in the beginning, now I'm losing 2 pounds a week. Is this a good loss rate for not having ANY fill at all?

It's a fantastic loss. Never have a fill unless you are sure you need one. First fills are usually offered between 6 and 8 weeks post-op but it deoends in the doctor.

Congrats on your success! You are doing great. My surgeon advised me that 0.5-2 lbs/week is normal weight loss. For me, the first couple of months after surgery I gained weight, since the band wasn't helping to dim my hunger yet. It took me about 6 months of fills before I finally found my sweet spot, and now that I'm there I'm losing about 0.6 lbs per week - right on track. It's slow, but it's so much better than the 5-10 lbs/year I was gaining year after year pre-band while desperately trying to lose weight. My point is that you're doing great, and there is a wide range of weight-loss scenarios that are all still successful. As long as you feel good, and you're losing weight week after week, I would say you're on the right track.

Your surgeon might have put some saline in your band at the time of surgery so it may not be the case that you don't have any fill at all. My surgeon said that since she put some saline in my band during surgery, my first fill post-surgery is actually my "second" fill.

I agree with the others - you are doing GREAT!

My surgeon put 2 cc in my band at the time of surgery. So I have had some restriction. My first "fill" is 6 weeks post-op, the end of May. You are having great loss so I wouldn't sweat it. I've lost 3 lbs a week so far.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
