8 weeks out and cheated last night

Recommended Posts

So, I'm 8 weeks out and have been doing great. I've lost a total of 45 pounds and I make sure I get my protein/liquid/exercise/vitamins in everyday. I can't eat a whole lot still...usually 2 oz of Protein is about it at a meal although I am on my forever diet.

Well last night my daughter had to make brownies for a function and she made Peanut Butter frosting. I wasn't tempted at the time but last night I ended eating a spoonful of the frosting. (Yes it was yummy too) well I wake up this morning and not only is the guilt of what I did bothering me but I have a horrible headache...not quite escalated into Migraine but could. I'm wondering if the sugar is triggering it . Has this happened to anyone else? My body has not had a drop of sugar in so long that I think it's revolting against me. I certainly will not be doing that again.

At 2 months out I wouldn't call a spoon of icing cheating. I had surgery in September 2013 and I ate a lot of junk food the December following it, then January I was right back on the wagon. It's ok to sometimes have a taste of something that isn't on your diet plan. The whole point of having surgery was so that you could live a happy and healthy life and sometimes that includes something that isn't Protein or veggie. At 8 weeks out you aren't hurting yourself, so don't beat yourself up over a little taste of something good. The trick is to be able to enjoy the little taste and not feel the need to eat anymore after it.

Also yes, the sugar could have made you feel badly. I don't have a very high tolerance for sugar at this point either. As an example of how life can be normal, I had plastic surgery a few weeks ago during which time I ate a lot of sweets the first few days afterward. I am now 7 weeks out and I haven't had anything sweet or really all that bad for me since. Yesterday I was at Starbucks and I bought a blueberry muffin and a cakepop. I had a few bites of the muffin and the cake pop is still somewhere in my kitchen. It's ok to occasionally eat a few bites of something that is sweet as long as you enjoy it and then go right back on your diet. Life is for living...not feeling guilty for enjoying a bite of frosting. :)

It's not cheating. It's just being a normal person.

Just don't make being "normal" a habit ;)

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
