Hi everyone,
I go by the name Trudiva and i have been part of this group for a while now however this is my first post.
I was lurking in the shadows and reading lots of the post which i must say has been quite informative to me.
I have learnt so many things from here and I am glad to say my journey is about to commence.
I am scheduled to have my op on 18th May 2015 and yes the nerves are screaming so hard but i am also excited to start a new life.
My highest weight was 115kg and currently i weigh 112kg.
I have started my Optifast diet for about a week now and i am liking the results that i am seeing.
My goal weight is 75kg and i am hoping to get there before Dec.
I am interested in making new friends here on and sharing with them tips, progress results and anything about healthy living.
Feel free to friend me and lets get this party started already!487524.gif362526.gif362526.gif618285.gif618285.gif

I just want to advise you against setting deadlines for your weight loss. Everyone loses at different rates and it might be pretty unrealistic for you to lose 37kg in just 7 months. I've only lost 57 pounds (~26kg) in 8 months and my starting weight is similar to yours.

There is no rush and this is not a race. Unlike the diets of your past, you will never be "done" with your weight loss surgery. You are changing the rest of your life. So if it takes you a few more months than you'd hope to reach your goal weight, what is that really going to matter in the grand scheme of things? Ten years from now will you be looking back and wishing you'd reached goal in 7 months instead of 12? Of course not!

Thanks for your input. Point well taken and I am really not stressing that I lose all that by the end of the year. Having read lots of posts I am well aware that I may not even see the said number. Although I would like to work towards reaching it.

Although I would like to work towards reaching it.

That's what I recommend. Put in the work. meat your Protein and Water goals. Get some exercise. And you WILL get where you are going eventually!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
