So I had gastric bypass and it has been great. I'm in the final phase of eating for the past few days I wasn't hungry, but today I ate shrimp and broccoli. I think I ate over the required amount, but I didn't feel full. Is this bad? I normally get full quick, but today I didn't. Is something wrong with me.

When was your surgery? Are you following the diet plan as your dietitian set for you? I am only 4 days post op for Gastric Sleeve, so I can't answer to gastric bypass questions, but I suppose it all depends on where you are in your recovery.

Different foods fill you up differently so it is important to measure. Also, it definitely sound like you over ate. I hate that feeling worse than any other. it just means you need to pay attention and measure until you get the hang of knowing when to stop.

sometimes one extra fork full can really cause havoc.

Also, shrimp and/or broccoli may not settle as well early on. I have found that even with similar volumes of food the type of thing I eat can make a big difference. Also the timing of what I eat can matter. Remember you can learn from each experience!

Good luck!

Make sure you are eating slowly. You over eat most often when you eat quickly.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
