Hello all Readers,

I'm seeking some names of stores in New York (Manhattan) that sell wigs natural looking. I had my surgery on the 22nd Of March 2015 and I know that I'll most probably loose approx 80% of my hair, hence I don't get enough protien in plus my hair is already very very very fine and thin such has see through.

So any help in this area will be highly appreciated.

Have a great evening

Prada.

At about 8 months in, I started losing my hair. I found a few websites that sell nice wigs at decent prices. Check them out:

http://www.hairtobeauty.com

https://www.hairsisters.com

https://www.ebonyline.com

These wigs look good on any ethnicity.

Hope this helps. Send me a message and I'll send you a pic of me wearing a few different wigs.

Hope this helps!

Ugh, I totally feel for you. My hair has been falling out since month two and I am now at month 7. Thank god I had a very thick head of hair to begin with, it is now very very thin and coming out worse than ever.

I have had my Protein, Iron and thyroid checked in the last two weeks and everything is normal. My surgeon told me once the weight loss stabilizes the Hair loss will stop. I have 52 lbs to go. And of course I am now at a 1 to 2 lb loss per week. I have a ways to go.

Anyway, I actually went to a wig specialist that focuses o wigs for cancer patients a couple years ago after having trouble with my thyroid and losing about 1/3 of my hair. The wigs she had were top quality but pretty expensive. I paid almost 700.00 for mine. I did not wear it for long but pulled it out the other day. Not sure if I will wear it but if things keep going the way they are I might have to.

@@Djmohr - I was not happy to read your post....lol! I had very thick hair and it has been falling out like crazy!! The drain is literally FULL every single night. It's naturally curly, so on a daily basis I cannot tell by looking at it, but I can tell when I wash it and also when I just dry it (with no product) and put it in a pony. i was hoping this too would pass quickly, but based on your response it don't sound like i am going to be that lucky!

Yes, the hair thing can be very frightening but don't let it get to you. Mine recently slowed down as did my weight loss. I am just over 1 year post op and it slowed down right around the 12 month mark for me.

The good news is I have been sprouting new hair all along so although I know and my husband knows it is much thinner than it once was, no one else has really noticed. I have been taking Biotin since the beginning and let me tell you it seems to really do a good job on regrowth.

I will say that by the time I stopped losing hair, I had lost about 3/4 of my volume. Thank goodness I started with a very very thick head of hair.

Also, some people only shed for a couple months, maybe you will get lucky.

hair is based on a three month cycle. When you have surgery, the nonessential parts of your body shut down. This includes hair. Around 3 months after surgery, you will see a Hair loss for about a three month span. After that, you will start to develop new hair and as those come in, more may fall out. The best thing to do is to keep Iron and Protein up. Biotin helps some, but it's really only 10% of what makes up the Hair growth. If you're losing hair at a year out, it could be possible that three months ago you may not have been at the right levels and that's what's causing the loss now.

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
