Hi all

I am having gastric sleeve surgery with DrBruno Dillemans on 7th May 2015 I am excited and nervous mainly because losing 100pounds is so important to me so I can have Fertility treatment we have been trying for 7 years and this year I turn the big 30 which wouldn't bother me if I had a family I am not flipping out about getting older just that if I couldn't have a baby in my 20s 30s will be even harder and I may not be pregnant but I look it sad but true the joys of having polycystic ovaries and pernicious anaemia

two weeks pre op diet is odd choice between any shakes like slim fast lol

I have opted for Isopure zero carb shakes 221 cal each fat0.9g carbs 1.4g Protein 54.2g

Need to ask can I have caffeine?

Welcome! You can have caffeine during the pre-op diet (I was allowed to at least), but not for a while post-op as your sleeve is healing up. I went ahead and quit caffeine on my pre-op, just so I wouldn't have to be dealing with the withdrawal right after surgery. I was allowed to reintroduce caffeine at 30 days post op. One cup of coffee per day with lots of milk or cream mixed in to make it easier on my stomach. Now I'm 8 months out and drinking 3 cups a day.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.
