The Worst Thing About Bein Fat

Recommended Posts

Hi

I think it hurts if it's a comment by someone I dont know, mind you some times family members esp the gran's can always hit you with a hurtful comment, I dont know what it is with being old, and being brought up in thoses days when children were seen and not heard but old people can have mean mouths that they cant seem to keep shut. lol:)

I can laugh at my self, because I do find it funny. I think its the best way to deal with being over weight, and I can laugh even more now that I have had my band as I know I am on the track to winning, and yeah all thoses people who judge me for being over weight esp getting bullied as a child can go to hell, because I have always been better looking and a nicer person then them anyway, I think they knew it. :P

another that makes me laugh, is my mum and dad are both big and they went to Italy for a week, the hotel they stayed in had a lift for 2 person, so my mum and dad both got in.:P

As the lift was going up it stopped and opened it doors but it was still about 3 foot below the floor.:omg: My parents rung the bell and this little man came and got them out, he then said to them in his funny accent

" this 2 people lift, but not you 2 people" my mum said they laughed so much she said it was embrassing but funny. It makes me laugh just thinking of them, no matter where they go something will happen.

Worst things?

Definetly the RUbbing Leg syndrome... oh that rash hurts!!! I solved it by wearing thin "bike" shorts under my dresses... ONLY wore dresses at 240 as slacks always bunched in at the crotch... hate those girls whose main complaint is "camel toe" !!! LOL

Hating that my tummy sticks out farther than my 40DD boobs

Hating not being able to see if I have any grey hair "down there" yet.

Yes, and restroom stalls - either you poke yourself in the eye with the purse hook on the back of the door, or you can't wedge yourself between the HUGE double-roll tissue dispenser and the Sanitary dispenser....

Trying to put on my own Toe Nail polish.. forget about it!

Solved teh CLOTHING Problem though, I started Selling Ladies clothes at home parties... xs to XX- large... its great I can just order whatever I want in XXL and if its too big or small I can send it back. I also get to try it on in the PRIVACY of my OWN home...

Does anyone else notice that the thermostatic temperature in those Mall Change rooms is always set on "CARIBBEAN" heat wave!! or is it post menopausal me???

hummmm :)

Oh, I'd rather NOT know about the little bit of grey hair I have down there, thanks. Sigh. That's depressed me 20 times more than all the grey hairs on my head. I"m only 39, lol.

Hmm loving this thread.

Worst things for me in no particular order:

worry about who is watching me from behind when I walk.

Looking in mirror and realising that no matter how much I suck in the tummy I'm still 8stones overweight :woot:

When nothing fits.

Dreading putting on that pair of trousers and if it doesn't fit it means you have put on more weight again!

Walking at what you think is a fast pace until you watch everyone pass you.

Wanting do things like scuba dive, fairground rides but know your over the weight limit.

Seeing people faces say 'how the hell did you get that big' but they say nothing to your face. :waytogo:

Wearing trousers only because otherwise you can't walk far (rubbing thighs)

Being body conscious all the time - is my belly on show, I'm I showing too much breast, do my arms look too fat, are they staring at my double chins.:tired

I could go on and on...

However all to end soon when I go for this life changing procedure!!

My worst ..When I got on the airplane a jerk looked up at me and said "everyone off, plane overload". I looked at him and said "yes please get off so I can have your aisle seat". My best, the next time I flew after the band, did not need the seat belt extender.

- Being asked to leave a roller coaster because the restraint won't fit

- Bathing suit season

- Back to school night where I have to sit in the little chairs. I stand instead

- Picnic bench seats that you have to climb through

- Jumping, then stopping and having body parts still moving

- Many enticing sexual positions I'd love to try...but that big 'ole bubble butt won't let me...

- Cars that don't have tilt steering

- Airplane seats, train seats, ANY public seating of any kind is too small.

- Paying more money for my clothes than the same design that a size 10 pays.

- Having fewer choices in clothing styles.

- Job descrimination

- Public toilet stalls and seats do dig at the legs! If I can manage to squeeze through the door that swings inward.

- Walking up one flight of stairs and feeling my face get hot, sweaty, and red. And I'm breathing heavy, too.

- Shorts ride up my crotch.

- stretch marks (which won't go away, I guess, but I won't get anymore!)

- Not being able to go into the O.R. when my daughter had her tonsils out because I couldn't fit into the surgery jumpsuits that they provide for parents.

- Bracelets don't fit

- When I'm in a "regular" store, I go to the purses section, because that's all that will fit me. Even when friends say, "Here's an xxl...it's huge - It'll fit!" Um...No.

- Buying t-shirts and sweats in the men's department.

And, last, but not least:

- The thought of not being alive or active enough to see my daughter's life, grandchildren, etc.

I'm sure there are so many more things, but these are always on my mind. :)

The worst things about being fat......hmmmmm....how shall I count the ways?

Well: Looking old and bloated. Shin splint pains, sciatica, fear of stairs and steps, breathlessness, disturbed sleep, shoulder pains from hunching forwards to try to hide enormous boobs and belly.

Fear of bumping into someone you haven't seen since you larded on all the fat, abject discomofort on plane journeys, being unable to wear a skirt or dress for 3 years because your legs are so fat and nothing will fit over the aforementioned huge boobs.

Having to buy shoes a size larger, no nice underwear or clothing. AS FOR CLOTHING......getting into very heated arguments in M & S, Evans, Ann Harvey who all "claim" to either cater for large sizes or have a larger sizes range.....PLEASE NOTE: When you're fat, you don't want to wear jeans with a 2" zip that barely cling to the top of you pubis/backside and expose vast amount of flesh that hasn't been seen by man nor beast for ages. Likewise, if someone needs a big size, the chances are that they will have big arms, big thighs...so cut your clothes accordingly. Don't degrade fat people by assuming that they are so desperate to have something to wear that you can fob the off with any old badly made shoddy junk. What sort of big person in his or her right mind wants to strut (or attempt to strut) around in drainpipe jeans?

Worst offenders? Marks & Spencer who give lip service to big sizes, but assume that all big people are over 65 and will buy anything to have something to wear. A size 8 can choose from at least 60+ ranges in their stores, from tops, to jeans, skirts, dresses etc. A size 24+ can choose from perhaps 3. The average sized woman in the UK today is size 16 and has a 38"+ bust.

Get with the plot M & S.

Soon I shall no longer need the services of these so called specialist shops, but it won't stop me from getting extremely irate at their cavalier attitude to what big people need.

Growling over, I'm now going back into my cave.......

The worse thing for me - I live abroad and I don't dare go home to see my friends as when I left I was slim. Over the years I kept saying I will go and see my friends again when I look good, until one day one of them died and I will never be able to see her again. Being overweight has taken so much from me. I am now looking at going private as the NHS is going to waste another two years of my life. I am looking for a good surgeon around here - any recommendations?

I dream of looking good again...

Hello NHS? Pah. You'll be a number on a list to be ticked off as a statistic.

Contact Mr John Rogers on +44(0)207 637 4010 or go to Gord centre - Home. He has been performing this operation since about 1994 but you can check this out on line. He will give you the choice of the traditional band or the MiniMiser (which I have). He will not sell you 6 adjustments that you are unlikely to ever need.

I had my band fitted on 12 October at The Princess Grace Hospital in London, I've lost 10.6kgs so far and don't have my first (and probably only) tightening until 1 December.

I'm changing, I'm becoming me again but my ticker bar STILL isn't updating!

Good luck.

Four days post surgery. I am sipping as fast as I can and getting NO WHERE near the goal of 60 - 80 grams of protein or the 64 oz of liquids. I just feel FULL. I don't know if it can still be the gas build up (I would think by now that would be gone) but it is a struggle to drink. And so far I have not had the nausea or spasms and don't want to wander into that territory by pushing too hard with liquids. I about passed out today as it was my most "strenuous" day. Went from second story to basement for shower and I was sure I was going to pass out. Looking back on my last few days I have had a total of less than 1000 calories. Am I just not getting enough nourishment in me? Once again a friday where I can't get ahold of the doc until Monday rolls back around so I am hoping maybe someone here has some experience on how to keep energy going. I do have fibromyalgia too and that may be where some added fatigue comes into play. How did you all fair with the goals the week after surgery?

2 days until I fly out to San Diego to have my Bypass Surg. in Tiajuana Mexico. Not gonna lie, the nerves are starting to surface. I don't fear the surgery itself, or the fact that I'm traveling alone, but its the aftermath that I'm stressing about the most, after this 8 week wait. I'm excited to finally be here, but I am really dreading the post surgical chapter. I know its going to be tough, real tough and I think I'm just in my head to much now that the day i here. Wish me luck, Hopefully I'm one of the lucky ones, and everything goes smoothly. Cant wait to give an exciting update,. If there is anyone else have a June bypass or even a recent one, Id love to have someone to compare war stories with. Also, anyone near San Antonio Tx? See ya soon with the future me. 💜

I'm in Houston so kind of near you and had the sleeve in Dec. Down 61 lbs. Feeling better. Was definitely worth it. I hope the everything is going well for you. Update us when you can!

I am back home after my bypass surgery in Tiajuana. I'm post op day 4. Everything went great! I guess I'm one of the lucky ones who have not encountered much pain at all, no nausea thus far and I'm having no problem keeping down broths and water. Thank you for your well wishes. I cant wait to keep up this journey and have a chance at better health and simply better quality of life. I know there will be bumps in the road ahead, and everything won't be peaches and cream, but at least I have a great start so far. 😍

I am new here today... and only two weeks out from my sleeve surgery on the 23rd. I am amazed I have kept my calories down to 467 today so far... that leaves me almost 750 left for dinner and maybe a snack. This is going to be tough for two weeks... but I have to believe I can do it!

Hey everyone. I'm new here so I thought I should introduce myself. I am 53y/o and am scheduled for Gastric Bypass on June 25th, 2025. I'm located in San Antonio, Texas. I will be having my surgery in Tiajuana Mexico. I've wanted this for years, but I always had insurance where bariatric procedures were excluded. Finally I am able to afford to pay out of pocket.  I can't wait to get started, and I hope I'm prepared for the initial period of "hell". I know what I have signed up for, but I'm sure the good to come will out way the temporary period of discomfort and feelings of regret. I'd love to find people to talk to who have been through the same procedure or experience before. So I look forward to meeting you all. Hope you have a great week!

I'm so happy for you! You are about to change your life. I was so glad to get the sleeve done in Dec. I didn't have feelings of regret overall. And I'm down almost 60 lbs. I do feel a little sad at restaurants. I can barely eat half a kid's meal. I get adults meals often because kid ones don't have the same offerings at times. Then I feel obligated to eat on that until it's gone and that can be days. So the restaurant thing isn't great for me. All the rest is fine by me! I love feeling full with very little. I do wish I could drink when eating. And will sip at the end. Just a strong habit to stop. But I'm working on it! You will do fine! Just keep focused on your desire to be different. Not better or worse. But different. I am happy both ways but my low back doesn't like me that heavy. So I listened (also my feet!). LOL! Update us on your journey! I'm not far from you. I'm in Houston. Good luck and I hope it all goes smoothly! Would love to see pics of the town you go to for this. I've never been there. Neat you will be traveling for this! Enjoy the journey. Take it one day at a time. Sometimes a few hours at a time. Follow all recommendations as best you can. 💗

      2. Doughgurl

Thank you so much for your well wishes. I am hoping that everything goes easy for me as well. We don't eat out much as it is, so it wont be too bad in that department. Thankfully. Also, I hear you regarding your back and feet!! I'd like to add knees to the list. Killing me as we speak! I'm only 5' so the weight has to go. Too short to carry all this weight. Menopause really did a doosey on me. (😶lol) My daughter also lives in Houston. with her Husband and my 5 grand-littles. I grew up in Beaumont, so I know Houston well, I will be sure to keep in touch and update you on my journey. I may need some advice in the future, or just motivation. Thank You so much for reaching out, I was hoping to connect with someone in the community. I really appreciate it. 💜
