Hi, everyone my is stacy and i was banded April 30th 2007. I just had my first fill June 6th and at first i felt pretty tight. But after about four days i felt like i did before i had the fill if not looser. I have the big vg 10cc band and the Dr. put in 3cc. So i guess my ? Is has anyone else felt like this. Was my restriction due to swelling of my stomach or what? Please someone help me becouse i am starting to get real discouraged. I am still losseing weight i just feel like i can eat anything hope this is normal. PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE SOMEONE TELL ME THIS IS NORMAL!!!!!!!

Thanks,

Don't get discouraged...this is quite common. After my first fill I could still eat anything that I wanted;however, I just had my second fill last week and I was in for a rude awakening. I was told that the first fill is designed to more or less teach how to change your eating habits...like taking smaller bites, chewing your food properly etc....trust please practice these things because your second fill will not be as forgiving...after my first fill, I could eat 4 tacos within a couple of days...after the second fill, I had trouble eating half of a taco... You just need to focus on self control for now...the restriction will come with future fills.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
