Hi all,

Just had my last doctor appointment and am waiting for hear back from the insurance for approval. I have been trying to get informed as much as possible about what to drink for the pre op and post op diets and what is the best Protein drinks/ideas. I have been to 3 nutrition classes but want to hear from the real sleeve patients what was best for them and helped everyone success! I love this forum and am so happy I have found a group of people online that know exactly what it is I am going through. I have been overweight my ENTIRE life and am so excited to begin this new journey. I am a 32 year old single mother and want to be able to do everything for my daughter who is 3 right now. Her dad is not really in the picture so it is just me and her...I have to be around a LONG time for my baby :)

ANY helpful tips/tricks that you have came across on your journey through this crazy weight loss ride would be great to hear!

Good luck to all of us and keep up the good work!!

Mary :D

The best thing to do, in my opinion, is use the search feature in the upper right-hand corner of the page, and search any topic that interests you. You will find a wealth of information on just about any subject you can think of, and many of the folks who have posted are still on the site, so feel free to ask any questions! All the best to you on your journey!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
