Okay guys..I started back at work and my whirlwind job makes it way difficult to consume liquids and eat because I'm always on the go. I'm sure so many of you can relate.

I've taken to doing shakes through out the day just because they are easier to transport, I'm able to be less mindful of the size of bites and the number of chews. Probably not the best bc I don't wanna be on shakes indefinitely, but I'm only 4 weeks out so I think shakes are still super normal to use.

Here's my question:

I can drink 14 ounces of a shake super fast. I can drink a 16oz water bottle over a series of three slightly spaced "chugs."

Am I doing anything super harmful to my sleeve? When I eat food, I feel restriction at about a quarter cup (if it's super dense. Maybe a half cup of something like yogurt)

I don't want my quick drinking to stretch my pouchie poo out.

On the plus side---I'm meeting my protien and liquid goals daily lol.

Any thoughts?

Liquids go through very quickly. If you were to drink "too much" you would simply throw up.

I'm a fast eater also and tend to cut all my food into small chunks as I'm preparing to pack them for work or for dinner. Solid foods will tend to keep you feeling full for longer and the nutrients are also much healthier than shakes, so try to get in solids if you can.

Because you're feeling restriction with more dense foods, that means your sleeve is doing its part, which is awesome!

Good luck to you!

I don't think yo are doing any harm by drinking liquids quickly. Some people have trouble doing so post-op, but if it's not causing you any discomfort, then I think it's perfectly fine.

Thanks pals. :)

I didn't think I was doing anything wrong but I freaked myself out a little bit because my husband said, "babe be careful!" When I drank my Decaf tea pretty quick. He thinks I'm so fragile. It was cute at first. Now i wish he'd relax a little bit lol.

I asked my doctor if I can stretch my sleeve or do damage by drinking 120+ oz of Fluid a day, some of it rather quickly. He said that the Water will find the easiest path out of the stomach -- that is -- down into the intestines, long before it can ever stretch the sleeve. In fact, the sleeve is mostly muscle, so it's not very stretchy at all. You would almost have to stretch it intentionally by constantly packing it with dense food -- and Water is not dense food. Good news!

Surgery 3/9/15 and I can also drink Water and fluids very very easily! I was seriously worried too, because I kind of expected to have problems getting all the fluids in. I think I must drink at just about the same rate it starts emptying from my stomach, because it has never stacked up or caused me any issues at all. Soft or solid foods, 2 oz and I am DONE. I literally weigh it, because a few bites over that will give that feeling of it sitting in my esophagus.

You'll get better at "eyeballing" it over time. That was one of the harder things for me once I started eating out and such. Trying to accurately guess how much I could safely eat without that tight esophagus feeling. But I'm really good at it now. When I go out, I look at what I'm served, say to myself "I can eat 1/3 of that" or whatever and then that is just about perfect.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks
