I think I just have the post op blues right now but a couple things are frustrating me. I had bypass on 3/31. I am currently on a full liquid diet.< /p>

I have had a lot of head hunger but it seems to be subsiding. My biggest problem is that I can't stand the after taste of anything especially milk. I've had to brush my teeth and tounge I don't know how many times. Is this normal?

I also am having a hard time stomaching milk. I have also tried soy but it's just the taste that's bothering me. I never had an issue with milk pre op. My doctor does not allow Protein Shakes. She only allows double milks which is 1 cup milk mixed with one cup carnation powdered milk. Has anyone else had this problem? I see most people are allowed Protein shakes so maybe those fast better. I can't wait to start pureed foods as that's what I ate for 2 weeks pre op anyway so I am used to it.

I was doing really good yesterday and felt energized and have got totally off of pain meds. I was only taking Tylenol due to narcotics making me so nauseous that I had to spend an extra night in the hospital. Today though I am exhausted and down in the dumps. I keep having to remind myself that I just had a major surgery so being tired is normal.

Oh and with the bad tasting I am not allowed to chew gum which is frustrating.

Did you try lactose free milk?

I was having the same problem with milk. Today, I switched to lactaid and it is much better on my tummy. As far as the taste issues, I can taste ok, I just seem to have this coating of "yuck" on my tongue, teeth and gums. Does anyone else have this?

Your in ketosis so your brain has sent your nose into overdrive to find food...thus things smell and taste different. And your breath will stink. sugar free breath mints have helped..especially for waiting the hour after I eat to drink.

I drink soy and after drinking it 4 weeks it still is not appealing but I just make myself drink it. I am required 16 oz a day and that's all Ido. I can't handle much dairy at all right now.

The exhaustion was horrible until through week three. It has been much better the last week but still hits me at times.

Thanks! That helps so much. I will have to get some mints. I am hoping it gets better. I am supposed to go back to work after 2 weeks so I hope the exhaustion is gone for me by then. I also start pureed at 2 weeks so I know that will help.

Quarter, I also had my surgery 3/31 and I'm stressed too! I ALSO had to stay an extra night in the hospital! It sounds like we are going through the same things and could possibly motivate/keep each other accountable. Do you want to talk over the phone/text? I could really use a pal :) Pm me!

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
