I was sleeved Monday March 30. I read where people don't have much pain but mine was brutal. I woke with searing pain in my chest. I got some morphine right away and felt better. I was walking two hours from when I arrived at my room and things looked great. Fell asleep on the drive home on Tuesday. Slept most of Tuesday. Wednesday I felt a little better and went on a couple walks. Still had trouble with food as I could only get about 4oz of Protein Shake or broth and really only two or three times a day. Then Thursday it happened. I woke about midnight in blinding pain. It really didn't subside all day. Then Friday same thing, woke at midnight with blinding pain and the shoulder pain started. It stayed most of the day. It appears that the problem is that my cpap is causing me to swallow too much air. I went without it last night and I feel better for the first time in days. The shoulder pain is still pretty bad but my stomach feels better and I was able to get 6 oz of broth In this morning, I have been feeling really depressed because of the pain and hating myself for doing the surgery because of it. I finally feel better physically and emotionally but feel there is still a fair amount of road to travel to get to a clearing. Your posts here have kept me encouraged and hopeful it gets better so thanks everybody.

I don't have any advice for you, but am sorry that you are having such a hard time!

Hopefully someone with more experience will chime in.

Sounds like gas pains from trapped air, they can be brutal. Walking is the easiest way to get the air to move around and work its way out. Many find some relief from the Gas X dissolvable strips. I got the pains in my shoulder after Lapband and it is miserable, but they dissipate within a few days. Are you still taking anything for pain? You should call your dr. and let them know how you are feeling just to rule out anything more serious.

I'm sorry you're still feeling bad. I had the same pain the first 3 days. It was really rough. Hang in there. My outlook changed as soon as I was feeling better. Hope it clears up for you soon.

@@NoMoreFatGuy I hope that you will start to have a brighter outlook soon. You did the right thing getting the surgery. Please don't regret it. I am 5 1/2 weeks out and I have had some ups and downs, but all in all I am extremely glad that I had the surgery. You will be thrilled when you clothes start falling off! That is the fun part! I have to go "shopping" in my basement every 2 weeks!

It's not easy, but be patient. I hope you have a better night tonight.

The best advice I have for you is what has really helped me..."time passes anyway". No matter what you do, time passes, and you can spend it being overweight or you can spend it working dilligently every day toward being healthy. Either way, a year from now, is still going to happen, and what you did right this second will matter then. Right now it stinks, you feel crummy, you're worried you made a mistake, you just wish life would go back to normal, except a year from now, when you're going for a jog, or you're trying on a new size pants, and you look in the mirror, you will look back and realize that all the misery was just time passing and you chose to pass it in a way that made the future better.

I recently just had my last plastics surgery and of the three this one has been the worst. I keep telling myself, time will pass and everyday will get better. Before you know it, all of your pain will be gone, and you'll feel SO much better. You'll wake up full of energy, you'll hop out of bed, you won't need that CPAP anymore, and you'll look back on this week and these few days and you'll say, damn, glad that's over with, but wow was it worth it.

So, suck it up...the next few days are going to be awful. In fact, the next few weeks might be pretty bad. You'll want to cry and yell at people and curse yourself and then one day you're going to wake up and you're going to think, well today doesn't suck yet. Then one day you'll go to sleep and you'll realize you had a normal day...no pain, nothing weird going on with your stomach, and you didn't get irrationally furious with anyone the whole day. Pretty soon almost everyday will be like that and you'll be like most of us here and be so happy with yourself for making a decision that right this second feels like the biggest screw-up ever.

Time passes...you may as well spend it doing something good for yourself, and that is exactly what you chose to do. For lack of a less cliche phrase...this too shall pass.

I feel for you! I had the exact same CPAP experience but I discovered one on the very first night post op while still in the hospital. I knew what it was because my CPAP caused aeroflasia ( not sure I spelled that right) for over a year an a half before we figured it out a year before surgery. That is when the pressure is too high and it causes you to cough all day every day for 1 1/2 years.

The pain in my tummy after using my CPAP was so horrific that I did not use it for the first three weeks following surgery. Once I stopped using it I was fine. I was off pain meds within one day of coming home. 3 weeks later I tried my CPAP again and have been using it ever since.

Sorry to hear you had this complication but glad you figured it out!

Look at that! You are already on the mend, but might not know it! IT HURTS TO HEAL. Period. But you're on your way, and everyday it should be easing up. You may have some set backs...maybe you bent over the wrong way, or ate a little to much, or something didn't agree with your new tummy, but these are things to face and look past. SURGERY HURTS. Period. But the hurt will pass and like most who have gone through childbirth, you "forget" that pain in the awesomeness of this new "baby" you have just born...NOW, NAME THAT BABY!!!

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!
