Hi Canyon. My nutritionist says hair loss is a result of Protein and Vitamin deficiency so if I am constant with my Protein and Vitamin intake then there should be little to no Hair loss. I've purchased all of the Vitamins and minerals recommended post surgery - includes taking one prenatal vitamin, so I guess we'll see! The recommended protein per day is 69 grams I think (have to double check) and so as long as I maintain that minimum I should be fine.

My surgery is on Monday (can't believe how fast it has come up). Excited but kind of freaking out right now.

Oh, Bless your heart! Just think of it as the beginning of your new life!!! And it is! You should do fine, you've been doing great with your pre-op stuff. My NUT has said that the stress of the surgery (this I CAN'T figure out, because I've had 22 surgeries to date, and NONE prior to this made me lose hair!) combined with the starvation mode puts us into the hair loss situation. I, too, have followed (to the T) my Protein and Vitamin (have to for other serious illnesses I 've had) regime, from day one. But I still have loss, although I can officially say it has lessened up considerably since I started the Nioxin Shampoo. I figure I have lost about 1/3 of my hair, but I'm ok with it as I had a lot of hair to start with, even though it is fine, but there is still a lot on my head. I can't say for sure it is the Nioxin that fixed it, because I also changed my thyroid meds and that usually helps me a lot with Hair loss.< /p>

Anyway, I'll be praying for your recovery and let me know how you are doing! All the best.....

Good luck with your surgery and your journey! My surgery is this coming Monday. I went for my last weigh-in today before surgery and I lost a total of 9.5 lbs since 01 Apr. when I started the liquid diet. I had hoped for more, but I'll take what I can get!

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
