just got my band a week ago

Recommended Posts

Hello!

My name is Rene and I am in south Louisiana where the food is REALLY good!! (lol):hungry:

I had my band surgery on tuesday, June 5th, 2007. (almost one week ago)

I cannot believe how quickly I am pretty much back to normal (95%) I am still on liquids but will start soft in a few days. I am confident and scared all mixed into determinded. Does that make any sense?

I LOVE:clap2: this forum.

I was 231 one week before the surgery and am now 225. It is a good start!!! I was my biggest at 297 three years ago but over those three years slowly went down. I have been at this weight for a good 6 months to a year. I felt stuck. My thyroid does not work and my lifestyle sucked. I intend to change the lifestyle but must rely on medication for the thyroid.

Hope to talk to all soon. We are all in the same boat but can share the paddling!:)

Rene'

Hi, Rene! I'm so glad to hear you have had a speedy recovery so far. I have my surgery date July 2. I'm excited, anxious, etc. I live in NY and my insurance is BCBS of Western Ny. I have not been informed if my insurance has approved the surgery or not. Is it safe to assume that they have? I was told the surgery center handles all of that. I wish I knew for sure!!

Hello Rene,

I live in Slidell and had my surgery on 5/31. I also can eat everything that I would like. I am not eating as much as before surgery but have not had any problems eating anything at all. I have strayed away from the diet of mushy veggies and am just sticking to soft foods. I have had chicken and cheese enchiladas (only in small amounts). I am hoping that I am not stretching my pouch. To my understanding things will all change after the first fill so I am enjoying what I can while I can.

Welcome to LBT. I'm glad you are doing well, it gives me hope because my husbands birthday is the day before my surgery and I know the following weekend he is going to be looking forward to having friends and family over to Celebrate (of course I will not be eating and drinking but at least I can look forward to not being in a lot of pain).

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
