April 1st Sleevers! Tomorrow is our Day!

So let me tell you about my Road Trip.

So my trip was a 3.5hr trip. The start off was getting my daughter McDonald's Sothern Crispy chicken. So I decided to try one. I chewed that chicken tender until the Cow's came home. But no problems, I was fine after that. I managed to stop every hour and walk for about 10 min. Well after a while I decided to start on my Premier shake. Why did that thing cause a ingestion feeling with every sip. I'm wondering if my pouch is beginning to not like them. I hope not b/c it has has alot of Protein and I still have a ton of them.

So next adventure is making it home to my family who KNOWS NOTHING about my WLS. They noticed the WL but then wanted to go to Olive Garden. So I said yes and went along. I ate 2 stuffed mushrooms, 1 breadstick, and a few bites of my salmon. I never felt nauseous, but the pressure in my chest was real. Well I managed to make it through dinner without Up Chucking or telling my family. Thank you Lord. I was really scared. So now an hour later, I'm walking around. The things we do when we won't want people to know. Ladies I hope yall are doing good, today was stressful for me.

Please be careful, I don't want to sound like your mom, but solids especially bread is pushing your pouch. Remember the phases aren't just about comfort and what stays down but allowing your pouch to heal. Solids can stretch your pouch and pull at your staples. The last thing you want is a leak. I was also told until swelling reduces foods can get "stuck" in the healing areas and abscess.

Please, please don't hurt yourself, not to keep a secret that you are doing something to change your life for the better.

Okay, I'm done lecturing. Hugs, be strong and above all else take care of your self.

Hi there, tomorrow is two weeks already! I made a very yummy and Protein packed (48g) smoothie this morning. It made a full shaker cup so it took a while to drink, but it was also fluffy so not heavy to drink. I have a nutribullet but a regular blender should be fine too.

1/2 frozen banana

1/2 cup frozen mixed berries (I used raspberries, blackberries and blueberries)

1/2 cup plain Greek yogurt (I used Fage)

1 scoop Protein Powder (I used an unflavored GNC brand)

1 1/4 cup skim milk

2 packets Splenda

Blend, blend, blend till smoothie consistency.

I really enjoyed it because it wasn't overly sweet or as heavy as the Protein Shakes. I will likely do it again with frozen strawberries and banana. Maybe add a little vanilla extract or use vanilla flavored protein.

What are some of your favorite things right now?

I tried a scrambled egg with laughing cow Swiss cheese and while it tasted divine going down it hurt later. Hard to figure out how much this new pouch can hold. How do you guys know when to stop? What are the cues?

Happy Saturday everyone. I woke up feeling badly today. I can't put my finger on it but just run down and tired almost like a flu but no fever or aches. I started feeling a bit better later morning but not super. I did manage to get down two Premier Protein shakes today and about 20oz of Water so far (and a little soup).

I got really nauseated around 6:00 tonight (about an hour after my last shake) it passed in about 25 minutes but I was miserable during the episode. Then all of a sudden around 7:30 I felt great and hungry so I decided to give the ricotta bake a try. It looked so good, it tasted like food. My first couple bites were likely too big and it just sat and sat in what felt like my esophagus. I waited about five minutes and tried taking small bites and chewing them into oblivion but after about 4-5 more bites I felt full. I think I had the equivalent of 2 TBSP of food. I think with the mozzarella it is just a bit too dense still. But let me tell you head hunger folks is real! It tasted so good and smelled so good I had to walk away to keep from eating another bite. I may warm a little more up in about 30 minutes (so an hour and half from my first sitting) if I'm actually hungry. I am going to refrigerate the rest. It makes four servings but when you only eat less than 1/8 of a cup...heck I have two weeks worth. :P

I hope everyone is having a nice weekend. I will be venturing to my in-laws tomorrow for a late Easter dinner (they were on a cruise) and want to do Easter with the grand babies. :) I will be bringing Soup and a shake!

Tried the ricotta bake with meatballs. Scrumptious!! Could only have a couple of bites, but shared with my family and they loved it!!

Hey there ShellMilliner!

Nothing too new expect finally in town for a while. Being on the road and trying to keep my WLS a secret was HARD. This week I've finally been able to stomach just plain Water. So as far as H20, I'm only up to 20 oz. a day. Not good, but I'm trying. I was scheduled for my follow up visit with my Dr, but he had to reschedule. So my next visit isn't until the 30th of Apr. So I'm still eating soft foods. The glue on my incisions are finally falling off, so I'm pretty happy to see how my incisions look. How's everyone doing with their incisions?

So like you said, where is everyone else?

Hey April 1st surgery buddies. I was curious if anyone else has experienced a change in taste since surgery. The Protein Shakes I loved pre surgery make me sick now. I'm struggling trying to find a Protein Shake I can stomach. I would love any suggestions. I hope everyone is doing well

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...
