When did you go back to work?

Recommended Posts

I was sleeved last Tuesday and am feeling better everyday. My surgeon gave me a work excuse up until April 13. I'm part time and there's no way I can stay off thst long. I was thinking about calling to see if he can make the date tomorrow or something. I still hurt a little but I can manage. I curtainly wouldn't be working my full 20 hours. Just enough so I'm not so behind it will take me forever to catch up.

I had surgery on a Monday and returned to work the following Monday. Like you, I was still a little sore and tired but I had no problems at all. I think I felt better by getting out of the house and back into a routine.

After a week

I had my surgery just before our winter break this past December (I work at a college library). So I didn't have to go back for 2.5 weeks. I wouldn't have felt good enough to go back after a week, but would have been fine to go back after 1.5 or 2.

Like you, I had my surgery Tuesday 3/24 and I am going to a three hour training today and then back full time tomorrow. I was really nervous but as each day passes, I feel better and despite being a bit irritated, I think I can handle it. Just going to take things slowly.

I was back at work on day 11, could have gone back on day 9 or 10 if I had wanted. But, having said that, I have a desk job and knew that I wouldn't have to move around a lot or be lifting anything heavier than a ream of copy paper.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.
