Hey All! I was sleeved last Friday 3/20! I have lost 26.2 lbs since the start of my 2 week liquid diet.

I have a couple questions.

1. I feel like I am able to take in a lot. I was able to do about 4oz of Tomato Soup at one time yesterday. And 3/4 of a greek yougurt today. I have never felt a "full" feeling. I feel satisified, but at the same time i'm not hungry. It's all very confusing to me.

2. I have an extreme aversion to all Protein supplements. Unflavored and everything. I literally throw up. My surgeon told me to take in as much as i can with greek yougurt/soups, etc. Until my follow up appointment tuesday. Has this happened to anyone else?

3. How on earth are you getting in 64 oz of Water a day. Im lucky to get in about 30.

4. What was the crietera for your post op diet? I'm supposed to stay a month on each level. It just seems extreme.

Thanks for your help!

It is not uncommon to not feel full on liquids. For some that full feeling doesn't happen until you get to soft foods. In the meantime to avoid over eating try and keep your portions sizes to between ¼ and ½ cup.

Seek out other Protein sources, greek yogurt, hummus, etc...

You have to work up to that much Fluid, just make it your goal to drink a bit more than you did the day before.

Every program is different. Many have had 1 mth stages. I had no pre-op diet and then 2 weeks full liquids, 2 weeks pureed, then 2 weeks soft foods

I feel a similar pain! I'm currently two weeks out and can have the Water just fine but I can't stomach the Protein at all. Everything smells off to me.

I discovered at first I would make an herbal tea and make sure it cooled down a bit and it went down easy. It definitely helped me stay hydrated as I slowly moved to colder Water. Diluted cranberry juice also went down well too. Try changing the temps for your liquids! I hope it helps :)

I had my surgery on the 20th as well however I am still on liquids, have my first doctor appointment on Monday. I get 90 grams of Protein in daily but Water see that's my struggle but will start keeping a count to see how much I am actually getting in and plan to do better each day.

I am almost one week out (3/24). Water hasn't been an issue. It takes me all day to get the 60oz they require. I have now started adding in Propel and V8. Didn't realize I could do V8 but it's on my paperwork. It's been a welcome relief.

I have been struggling with getting the Protein. DR wants 70grams a day. I get so full from one shake that it will take 10 hours before I can even consider drinking another. I started exploring other options to get it. chicken broth, cream Soups, yogurt (never been a fan of Greek).

It is a lot but it's not uncommon that people don't feel full on liquids.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
