Yup. Every morning. My dietician said it is because the stomach has contracted, and is not happy with the splash of cold Water I throw at it each morning! Go Figure!!!!! (I can't understand why not!!! Don't we LIKE getting cold water thrown on us?!) So, she suggested sipping warm water, instead, for a couple of sips, to kinda "prime" the stomach. Same goes for the first food of the day, "prime" it with a couple bites of soft food before throwing the hard/crunchy/tough stuff at it. This has worked greatly for me. Good luck to you!

As mentioned it could be dehydration. Try to make sure you're well hydrated at bed time. Excess acid can also cause nausea. Are you on a PPI?

Yes I'm getting my Water in. Last night I drank two glasses before bedtime to see if it helped but it didn't. I am taking acid reducers every morning.

@@downsizingdiva My doctor has me taking an additional dose of Omeraprazole in the late afternoon. That has helped me as of late. Maybe talk to your doctor about increasing your dosage?

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.
