If I was his Dr. I would NOT have given him permission....I don't see how anyone's heart can stand up to that.....not to mention what that abuse will do to his knees and hips.....

But that is just my opinion....

This guy has tremendous strength and determination. I still despise running even after losing 112 pounds. This is probably because my mother forced me to be a sprint and long distance runner on the track team for five years in in junior high and high school. Even though I wasn't a particularly good athlete or ever won a race, it was still forced upon me. I wasn't even overweight, but still found it humiliating.

I have lost my extra weight by eating healthy and walking 1-1.5 hours a day. This is speed walking and it usually equals 3-5 miles daily. Although I did lose some weight with this exercise regimen before surgery, I have to give the sleeve a lot of credit for helping me as well.

Wouldn't it be more ideal for this guy to walk 1-1.5 hours daily instead of practically killing himself with a 5 mile race once a month? I have read research that states that walking an hour daily burns just as much fat as someone going to the gym and doing cardio for 40 minutes 5 days a week.

Okay....I just read that he does go for a one mile walk. I just hope he doesn't injure himself before he is able to shed 250 pounds (his goal).

This is so great. I think the goal of one 5k a month is awesome! I feel like I should do the same thing! Haha

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
