3 days post op

Recommended Posts

Hi. ..3 days post op and feeling pretty good considering. Day one was pretty yuck with nausea and pain high up in stomach. Could not tolerate Water. Would bring on pain and nausea. Day 2 managed to get free fluids down including Soup ice cream and yogurt. ..only a little bit though. Still on Maxolon and some pain relief.

Going home today and think I'll be fine. The op sites are good with no pain or problems. I knew it would all be a journey and first day was pretty hard...but i feel confident i will manage and am excited that the sleeve is now done. The worst behind me. ....hopefully lol

Congratulations on the recovery! My recovery went very well also. Just be sure to still take it easy and allow your body time to recover.

Just as a heads up...many of us experience a stall at three weeks. It's completely normal and weight loss will start again.

Best of luck and welcome to the Losers' Bench!

Soup, ICE CREAM, and yogurt? Wow, in the hospital? My doctor allowed Water, ice chips, broth, sugar free Jello and sugar free fruit juice. Ice cream, I would think, is a big "no no."

Do you have any food restrictions?

I was on full liquids for two weeks, followed by pureed foods for two weeks and then I can move on to soft foods (meaning anything that my fork can pass through) after two more weeks. She takes her patients very slow.

I'm glad you are doing well!

Way to go with your recovery!

I'm 8 days post op, and still on only Clear Liquids. And will be for 2 weeks, then thicken liquids for 2 weeks, then soft for 2 weeks, then blended for 2 weeks, THEN SOLID!! I'm going to throw a party lol.. And absolutely never again, any more straws.. Doc says it can give u gas by allowing air to go down, and it can stretch your pouch making u want to eat more.

I guess every Dr is different, but maybe that ice cream and straw bringing on an unnecessary aliment?

Good luck to you in your journey!

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
