First appointments finally scheduled...

Recommended Posts

Went to a seminar at mynewself Bariatrics on March 7th!

Insurance Verifier called on March 11th... no insurance coverage which I already knew! Self pay it is :)

Called to schedule my appointments since I had not heard from anyone... April 10th for Doctor Consult, Dietician, and Psychologist!

Not sure what happens after those appointments but very excited!

My husband and I decided to do this together after I had gone with him to the seminar as his support system. We have done everything together, our appointments, our meetings...everything. The appointments aren't bad at all, the psychologist was interesting but we got through it all in one day and thank goodness that it's done with. I'm not sure what yours will be like since you're in a different state, but as soon as you start getting these appointments behind you, its a relief.

Have they told you if you needed a sleep test? That's something you might want to check on. Our insurance is Anthem Blue Cross and my husband NEEDS to have a sleep test in order to have his surgery. I do not.

Do you have to have any weight management classes?

I have already been diagnosed with sleep Apnea and wear a CPAP machine so I am not sure they will ask for a sleep study again. Since I am self pay, my timeframe should be shortened, but not always, since I do not have to adhere to any insurance requirements.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
