Nine days out and only down 2 pounds

Recommended Posts

I am nine days out after surgery and only down two pounds. I lost about 10 by day four, then gained eight in the last few days. I am following guidelines to a tee. Any thoughts?

It's probably just Fluid shifting. If your following the plan you will be fine. I would just stay off the scale for awhile or your going to drive yourself nuts. You just had surgery give your body time to adjust and catch up. Try not to weigh for the next two weeks and just concentrate on your fluid intake and recovery. Good luck!

Hi.

First thing, you are only 9 days out. Relax, Breathe and enjoy this new self.

You will finally start noticing a change about 1 to 1.5 months out. I had my surgery on 11/21/14 and have lost 69 pounds. Please do not get discouraged, which I see alot do.

Being only 9 days out your body is still adjusting to the surgery. One thing I can say is make sure you do not eat solid food until your surgeon states. Right now I assume you are only on liquids.

Remember, you have a new "baby" tummy. Treat it just like you would if you were a baby and starting on new foods/liquids.

Again, enjoy this beautiful ride.

Annamarie

Thanks Folks - I'll calm down a bit. As you said, I am still on liquids. Hopefully, If I continue to stick to the plan, I'll see the success you have! :D

Get off the scale. For another week or two at least, just focus on recovery, not weight loss.

Stay off the scale. Period. Follow your meal plan. Concentrate on Protein and Water and Vitamins and STAY. OFF. THE. SCALE.

Are you drinking a lot of broth? When I had it I noticed I didn't lose, but days I didn't drink it I do lose..I think it's the salt causing Water retention.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
