From Sleeve to Bypass - Revision

Recommended Posts

Failed sleeve? Had sleeve in 2013, only lost 40 lbs - cannot work out because of medical reasons.

Has anyone converted from sleeve to bypass ( or band) and achieved weight loss? Got to have another surgery and need to get the weight off.

Your thoughts.

Just curious. What does not being able to work out due to medical reasons mean? Can you walk? Are you bedridden? As someone who has severely limited mobility I still try to get in at least 60 min activity in a day. What are your limitations?

Also, with the sleeve are you getting your Protein and Water goals met?

If you aren't happy with your results with the sleeve (oops this posted before I finished my thought) I think I was saying if you aren't happy with the results with the sleeve what do you anticipate would be different with a bypass?

I would take a good look at what your eating ect.. I am a slacker In the exercise department (that will change next week finally!) I still lost 60 lbs In 4 months even w/o any exercise. I do track everything that goes in my mouth though and I'm extremely caution of what I eat. Maybe you do need a revision...better discuss that with your DR!

I'm on a walker and exercise is limited to physical therapy with therapist and that is restricted. Also take meds that impact weight loss. Dot always get in Protein and Water and recently started seeing nutritionist again.

I got an exercise peddler and peddle it with my hands while I watch tv. When the weather is better I do Water aerobics. Can you get in a pool? Can you do chair exercises? Can you "waive your arms in the air like you don't care"? See if your physical therapist has some ideas of how you can add more movement into your day.

You definitely need to get your Protein and Water in.

Hello, I haven't been on the site in so long. I had the sleeve in 2010 and I lost 85 pounds and slowly gained back 30. I'm wondering if you decided to do gastric bypass because that's what I have been talking with my doctors about.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
