Halfway on Hump Dayyy!

Recommended Posts

So today i weighed in at 265 pounds which now measure my lost weight at 97 pounds and gives me 95 to go. I have officially past the halfway mark, the tipping point, over the hump! To those awaiting surgery, or struggling those few days or so after post op, take it from me, the feeling is....indescribable. Every day we rewrite the pages n the book of our lives and make them better for us and those who love us. To be honest when i first started along this journey I repeatedly said if I could just get below 300 pounds it would be a huge success for me and I would be happy. But when you follow your plan and things o right, the outcome is well just great, and heck im not afraid to say when i hit my 100 pound loss in a few days (3.2 pounds left to go) I will probably be a bit emotional about it as well.

So many people here have helped me get this far and I thank you all. and to those just starting out..You Can Do This!!

Next thing you know, we'll only be "overweight" instead of "obese"!

HUGE success Steve, and a warmly positive message, congrats! You're right, the story of our journey gets written anew every day. You sound so enthusiastic and happy, what was your mood prior to surgery? I was at my low point prior to surgery, joint pain, meds, sleep apnea, now they are all gone, I just had my 6 month labs and my A1c was lower without meds than a year ago on meds. So much to look forward to as we go from being spectators in life to active participants.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.
