Very annoyed with band and Dr

Recommended Posts

I'm having a hard and confusing time with my band. I have a 10cc band and was filled to 6.2cc. I had my band placed in 2012 in Dallas. Since then my husband was relocated with his job. Now I'm about 7 hrs from my Dr so I found one close to where I'm at now. In Dec I got the stomach virus and was sick for 2 days afterwards I had the worse case of indigestion. I called the Dr that I see here and his nurse told me to take prevacid if it gets worse to call. It got better but at the end of January I got the Flu. After that I couldn't hardly tolerate any kind of food. I would feel really bloated some times I would have a lot of PBing but I could always tolerate fluids. This is where it gets really frustrated.------

I went to the Dr that I have here but I saw his nurse practitioner instead. She said it didn't sound like slippage and took out .2 cc and it hurt so bad when she accessed my port. It has never done that before but I felt like it was more of the NP than my port. So I called the Dr that put in the band in Dallas to see them and he usually does his fills under the florascope and I'm a self pay but he refuses to see me. His nurse said since I've been seeing someone else and they've accessed my port I need to stay with him. I'm scared my band has slipped and they are just looking over it. Please give me your opinion on what I need to do???

Sorry for the long rant I'm just confused and upset.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.
