I'm a newbie here and just got my date!

Recommended Posts

Hello, all! I can't believe I just stumbled across this site on a relatively unrelated search! I've been looking for an active forum with no luck.

I must say I think I must be in shock, or numb, or something! Two weeks ago my doctors office submitted to my insurance for approval, so I thought I'd give them a call yesterday to check on it and my approval was just granted yesterday and the letter went out! Talk about coincidence!

So I get with my doctors office this morning to see what's next...she asks if I had a date in mind for surgery, so I said "yesterday"! Well, to my surprise, she said "Well, I'm no miracle worker, but how does Friday work for you?" I was shocked, but took the date!

I'M GETTING BANDED IN LESS THAN THREE DAYS! WOO-HOO!

Thanks to all...I still can't believe it myself. I am a little concerned about it going so fast for one reason...I keep seeing posts about a pre-op diet? There is no such animal in my world! I understand what it is for, but I'm not doing it and haven't been advised to! My pre-op appointment is tomorrow at 3pm and surgery is Friday morning. It doesn't seem real yet. I'll keep posting and probably ask a lot of questions, so hang in there with me!

Take care all, Stef

Congrats Stef.....sometimes it's just meant to be. I had a similar experience as I got approved and had surgery the following week. The pre-op band is not a pre-requisite for having the surgery. It is good if you can start cutting back and incorporating some good habits. My was no sodas and no straws to get started.

Best of luck and welcome...

Thanks again for the support...surgery in the morning for me! I talked with my doctor today and asked about the new Advanced Platform Band that I just learned about yesterday. Turns out the surgery center I am going to uses the AP Band exclusively! Things just keep getting better and better.

Good night, all and see you on the losing side!

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
