Enjoying Exploring my Anatomy!

Recommended Posts

It is so good to actually explore my body! (For all of you that think I'm talking about playing with myself, sorry to disappoint! :-))

BUT (and you don't have to be a surgeon to appreciate this), I am sooooo happy to be able to see and feel bones, veins, muscles, etc. But, yes, admitedly as a physician/surgeon, I do enjoy saying:

"Wow, I can really see my sternocleidomastoid muscle!" [the long muscle that appears at your neck when you turn your head].

"Wow, there's my 'anatomical snuff box,'" [Extend all your fingers as much as you can. really stretch the hand. Between your wrist and thumb, there are two "lines"--the longest, on top; the short one on the bottom. The space between them is what's called the 'asb'.]

When lying in bed, wow, my hip bone is "right there."

"Check out my 'supraclavicular fossa,'" [the indentation/dip just above your clavicle/collar bone] etc.

My ribs--I can feel them! Cool.

I even like seeing my veins; not varicose veins; I ony have one of those. But just seeing basic veins, because (to me) that means easy access if ever needed for medical purposes, like IVs, etc.

Granted, the boobs are droopy sacs, not voluptuous, bountiful beauties, as before, but, hey... I took pics beforehand.

Also, I think I'm back on track, thank God. I bounced up to ~193, after weeks of company, and eating stuff I shouldn't have, even if just a little at a time. I'm down to 188 again, and am focused again. Goal; ~160-170 by late spring, if that doesn't make me too skinny. Pray for me. Glad to see many doing so very well!!!

Whenever I touch my ribs or hip bones, or see my collar bones in a mirror, I get surprised. I had almost forgotten that I had bones, they were so hidden. It is taking me a while to get used to my new figure. When I was younger, I liked thinking of myself as voluptuous, but as I got older, I was just fat.

My pelvic bones are actually annoying me now. The jut out so far that I am always banging my arms on them. How is that a thing that is happening?!?!

Also, itching is a painful endeavor now. Like around my collar bones and jaw. Nails on bone is an uncomfortable sensation.

TMI Warning!!!! But the worst, by far, is this tendon that stretches from my crotchal region to my inner thigh. When my husband and I have sex and he's on top, his pelvic bone pokes that tendon and it HURTS!!!

Jamie, I will say, that sometimes my hip bones do hurt when I lie on my side, so, yeah. I hear ya. There's no more cushion. But still, I'm happy to feel them.

Also that I can put my hand around my opposite wrist; in fact, a good many inches above my wrists. Just everything. Good changes.

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
