No March sleeves yet? Perhaps everyone is still resting?

Well I'm not a March2015 sleeve but had mine Feb 11, 2015... Today I'm 25 days post op. I feel better every day but the first week was hell. I've had 3 c-sections, knee surgery and gallbladder removed so I thought this would be no sweat. Let me tell you I wouldn't wish the pain on my worst enemy. I also had hiatel hernia repair at the same time so that had something to do with it.

Now that I'm past the pain I'm glad I did it.

sleeved 3/2 a few issues not due to surgery, found out morphine is not my drug keeps me awake and no help for pain. home wed am doing good. no trouble with liquids or Protein drinks. bp really low 99/64, strange number when you have been on meds for 50 years for high bp. drain was only pain, got plugged and started to spasm, that hurts! gained 11 lbs from surgery gone in 2 days, lost 10 more. no complaints.

Hi, I had my sleeve done March 3rd at 10:30am. Just looking for support and ideas to make this process as good as possible. So far everything has gone as expected. I'm getting in my liquids but having a hard time getting in the Protein. My taste buds must be changing because the sweet Protein shakes are wearing thin. Normally I would love anything sweet but now...yuck. Which I find hilarious. I have ordered some flavorless Protein supplements so next week should be a bit better. I'm not having much pain except getting out of bed in the morning at the incision sites. I will be glad when I don't feel so weak. I hear the first month is the hardest. One week down and 3 more to go!

I was sleeved 3/2. Everything went well, not much pain but did sleep for days. I am struggling with my intake. Got all my Protein yesterday (40g) and most today (35g), but my Fluid intake is low. I feel really hungry but don't want to put anything in my mouth except Water, but the Liquid Protein has been difficult to get down and takes me nearly all day to accomplish. Hoping the full liquid stage is a bit better for me, starts tomorrow after my post-op visit.

Hi all! This is my first post. I was sleeved on March 5th!! I found this site to be a great resource pre-op and am looking forward to the ongoing support post-op! I had some nausea is the hospital on the 6th and was about to be sick but as soon as I got up and walked I felt better and the gas came up. I was walking the floors the first night and it felt great. I came home from hospital on the 7th and have been focused on walking, getting in my Water and 2 Protein Shakes and napping when I am tired. Feeling pretty good!! Much less abdominal pain than I expected! Now if the snow would just melt I get some outside walking in!!

I got a pack of powders?utm_source=BariatricPal&utm_medium=Affiliate&utm_campaign=CommentLink" target="_ad" data-id="1" >unjury chicken noodle Soup flavored protein from my NUT as a sample. Could you try that?

I also struggle with the protein so I try to drink it before Water. I'm

Getting in about 30g a day. Supposed to be at 60.

Getting sleeved tomorrow....

Good luck!!

I've been trying proti Protein Soups. They have 15 grams of Protein per serving. Last night I got very very ill. I think it was gas and nausea but it seemed to be so extreme. I was almost in tears. It was defiantly my WHAT HAVE I DONE MOMENT. I was taking Gas X like candy and forcing myself to burp. It seems like Im having to learn how to burp again. I always sorts hid them before and now "everyone get out of my way". I think the reason I had such a bad day was that I changed my Protein Drink for Premire Protein to GNC. I'm going to try to go back and see if the Premire Proteins want to kill me from the inside. I've heard some different kinds affect people in different ways. Fingers crossed that my gas and nausea stay in manageable levels! Good luck in your surgeries!

Bp was 78/40, hr 140. But everything normalized. They checked me for leaks just in case. No infection, wasn't dehydrated. Got to go home. Feel ok today.

I am new here today... and only two weeks out from my sleeve surgery on the 23rd. I am amazed I have kept my calories down to 467 today so far... that leaves me almost 750 left for dinner and maybe a snack. This is going to be tough for two weeks... but I have to believe I can do it!

Hey everyone. I'm new here so I thought I should introduce myself. I am 53y/o and am scheduled for Gastric Bypass on June 25th, 2025. I'm located in San Antonio, Texas. I will be having my surgery in Tiajuana Mexico. I've wanted this for years, but I always had insurance where bariatric procedures were excluded. Finally I am able to afford to pay out of pocket.  I can't wait to get started, and I hope I'm prepared for the initial period of "hell". I know what I have signed up for, but I'm sure the good to come will out way the temporary period of discomfort and feelings of regret. I'd love to find people to talk to who have been through the same procedure or experience before. So I look forward to meeting you all. Hope you have a great week!

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

I hope your surgery on Wednesday goes well. You will be able to do all sorts of new things as you find your new normal after surgery. I don't know this from experience yet, but I am seeing a lot of positive things from people who have had it done. Best of luck!

Life as a big person had limited my life to what I knew I could manage to do each day. That was eat. I hadn't anything else to look forward to. So my eating choices were the best I could dream up. I planned the cooking in managable lots in my head and filled my day with and around it.

Now I have a whole new big, bigger, biggest, best days ever. I am out there with those skinny people doing stuff i could never have dreamt of. Food is now an after thought. It doesn't consume my day. I still enjoy the good home cooked food but I eat smaller portions. I leave food on my plate when I am full. I can no longer hear my mother's voice saying eat it all up, ther are starving children in Africa who would want that!

I still cook for family feasts, I love cooking. I still do holidays but I have changed from the All inclusive drinking and eating everything everyday kind to Self catering accommodation. This gives me the choice of cooking or eating out as I choose. I rarely drink anymore as I usually travel alone now and I feel I need to keep aware of my surroundings.

I don't know at what point my life expanded, was it when I lost 100 pounds? Was it when I left my walking stick at home ? Was it when I said yes to an outing instead of finding an excuse to stay home ? i look back at my last five years and wonder how loosing weight has made such a difference. Be ready to amaze yourself.

BTW, the liquid diet sucks, one more day and you are over the worst. You can do it.
