Well this time tomorrow night I will be approximately 13 hours into my new life as a bandster...I can hardly believe it! I am so scared, anxious, nervous, excited, and so much more...I just hope everything goes all right. I am about ready to try and get some sleep, but I know I won't hardly sleep a wink. I think I have everything ready to go...all house work caught up, stocked up on Water, Powerade, juice, broth, pain med prescription is filled, heating pad plugged in and ready to go...

Please wish me good luck, and I will check in as soon as I can. And to all of you out there, not matter what part of the journey you find yourselves in, good luck and keep truckin'.

Hey all,

Well I am officially a bandster as of 1:15pm on Monday June 4th. The surgery went fine and I was home by midnight that night. I have to say that I was not ready for the amount of pain that I am in, especially the pain right when I woke up. But it is getting better and better. I walked a total of 35 minutes today on my treadmill (7 times at 5 minutes each) and I have been doing my spirometer breathing exercises every hour on the hour. chicken broth has become my new best friend, however I feel I am retaining Fluid due to the sodium content, so I will be getting the low-sodium version as soon as I run out of the regular. My DH took off work yesterday and today and so my niece is here to "baby-sit" for the remainder of the week. I just have a hard time getting up and down from the couch and bed. Other than that, I think I am doing really well and look forward to my first pre-op appointment so that I can start full liquids. Thanks for checking on me everyone!

I was shocked when I woke up in so much pain after the surgery since so many people here didn't even use their pain meds. I used my meds for over a week and really needed more than one week off from work. Take it easy and don't rush yourself back into your old routine.

Congrats!

Don't be suprised that you don't get a fill on your first post-op appointment. I saw my dr a week after surgery and then scheduled my first fill appointment for today. (my surgery was 4/24).

You will feel better every day, but everyone is different. I had surgery on a Tuesday, home on Wednesday (stayed on pain RX), Thursday took Rx at night, Friday was fine.

Welcome to Bandland!

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks
