What is your favorite pureed meal?

Recommended Posts

I'm about a week away from starting pureed foods. I wanted to see what some of y'all's favorites are so I have a variety of things to try without getting bored. I love to cook, and I have really missed cooking meals the last 4 weeks or so.

Google The World According to Eggface. She has a bunch of great recipes for the pureed stage. My favorite is her Ricatta Bake :)

I loved ricotta bake too. I also tried canned roast beef hash because of eggface. I liked that too! I liked the pureed stage a lot better then th liquid stage.

My pureed stage was anything that was for supper - put in the blender. My favorite was Italian beef, which I used to eat on a sandwhich, but no more bread now. You simply take an oven baked beef roast, shred it, put in on the stove to simmer for about an hour with the drippings, a bit of Water so it doesn't scorch, sliced onions, green peppers, a beef boullion cube and Italian seasoning. Take your portion and puree it in the blender....delicious. I put a few fresh cooked green Beans with my portion just because it is my favorite veggie. The family can have the rest for sandwiches.

Thanks ladies, I will check out that blog, I have been looking on pinterest but sometimes people come up with their own recipes. I love to cook, but now its on a micro level. I still have to cook for my husband. I have been obsessed with the little muffin tin meals. I think I'm going to try making tiny spinach pies with phyllo dough when I am a little further along with my recovery.

Right now I have had scrambled eggs, and I made some beef, pork and turkey meatballs that I can have all different sauces with. The meatballs turned out really well for the first time ever making them. I made 1 oz meatballs, 55 calories each with 5.13 g of Protein. I'm looking forward to getting creative with micro meals. Would anyone be interested with sharing recipes? ? If we are going to eat small amounts of food it should taste fabulous or at least be something we really like. Thanks for responding. I"m new to this site, looking for a network of good friends for support and to trade recipes.

Thanks!!

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.
