Post-op regain :(

Recommended Posts

Hi i had my surgery 09/09. I went from 298 to 138. After my brother getting killed in Afghanistan and my husband being deployed i started drinking and did realize how much i was drinking. I gained back to 215 lbs. i have not drank in almost 4 months. But need to get back into my Protein and Vitamins to get the weight back off. Any advice on how to kick start the journey again.

I'm so sorry you lost your brother! We all appreciate and thank him and your husband for their service to our country.

I have not yet tried this but a lot of people talk about doing the 5 day pouch test to kick start everything again.

If you try it, let us know how it works.

In addition, get back to basics -- keep a food journal, track grams of Protein, drink a lot of Water and do the 30/30/30 (stop drinking 30 minutes before meal, don't drink during your meal and don't eat for longer than 30 minutes, start drinking your Water again 30 minutes after your meal). Exercise. I know there are more basic things but these come to mind right away.

Best of luck. I know you can do it!

I tried the 5 day pouch test. It does work. I need to do it again because i have gained 26 lbs back in a year because of a stupid sweet tooth.

My doctor recommended ideal Protein for me. I have not started it yet as it is expensive, but he said it's a good diet for bariatric patients. I gained about 30 pounds back and I am definitely upset with myself. I had the surgery a couple of months after you did. I hope that you get back on track and that your heart heals. Your husband and brother are true heroes and we thank them for their service.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
