High Blood Pressure Meds

Did anyone have to switch their beta blocker from xl extended time release to regular metoprolo due to it not absorbing in the body ?

Interesting, I take a beta blocker for the prevention of migraines. It is a low dose but I have noticed that it does not seem to be working as well as it once did. Also I excercise regularly and in the last few weeks I noticed that it is pretty easy to reach my target heart rate, as you know that is usually much harder to do on beta blockers. I have been wondering if my beta blocker is simply not as effective. I am getting migraines every other day but thought my cervical spine was actually making them worse.

Now I wonder if my preventative is working. I will have to ask my doctor about that.

I have been told by my drs. office staff that anything that is extended release needs to be rewritten after surgery. They just don't do well w/ the RNY patients. So, you may want to look into it.

Rebecca I absolutely agree with you ! I have been having issues with rapid heart beat for the last several days. (I'm 11 days post op) My husband swore the nurse at hospital said that I can't take the extended release anymore. But my hospital discard instruct said to continue the xl release. I asked the surgeon about it he told me it's debatable and he has patients still on it after RNY, but told me to switch since I have been having issues. My PCP wrote me a new script and I feel so much better today. I'm just so tired because I haven't been able to sleep for days . I hope I can eventually get off them the more weight I lose. Thank you !
