So today I went to month two of my sixth month physican required visit. The MA asked if I would also allow my DR. to bring in a student .... I said sure no problem.
Well lil miss student comes in before my Dr.
Goes over my chart and sees since my first visit ( last month) I have lost 8 pounds. She asks what I'm doing/ what changes have I made. I give her my list
Cut out soda
Cut out breads, rice, sweets, potatos
Increased Water intake
Walking for an hr 2-3 times a week
Eating Protein first
Eating slower
More so than any one change I have had an epiphany and I'm ready to face all of my challenges with weight head on. I will be having bariactric surgery and I really want to use these six month to start making the changes to be successful.
Automatically her face changes and she gives me the most snooty look and says " are you sure you really want to do that?" Like " have you researched it???" .... " right now you are doing it the " right" way" . She then follows with
" you may think that wls is appealing but the long term effects are horrible"
I then tell her of course I researched it I would not remove a portion of an organ from my body and not know the risk/ or complications of doing so. As far as the long term effects, the long term effects of being morbidly obese are far greater . And there is no right way to lose weight. I have 136 pounds to lose that's more than what you probably weigh. There is nothing " appealing" about coming to the realization that you are in a constant battle with food/diets/scale and Im making changes in my lifestyle and with this surgery to face these challenges head on.
Lil miss snooty face had nothing to say after that and sat in the corner of the room and observed when dr entered and conducted the rest of the visit.
One down and I am sure many more to go.... I'm prepared and excited about this journey!!!!!
